I can't comment on Paris, but this is FALSE in the case of DC. There are many buildings in DC that are over 125 feet. I'd guess that most of downtown DC is over 125 ft.

Building height in DC cannot be greater than the width of the street the building is on + 20 ft.

That's why the heights are pretty much uniform throughout the core of DC -- they all go right up to the height limit based on the street they are on.

Ok private dick, your detective skills got me, I was wrong. But I was only off by 5 feet. Regardless of street width 130 feet is max height in dc.

It's not about my detective skills... but rather that I am currently typing this while I'm supposed to be working in a building that is over 160 feet tall... as many buildings in the surrounding area are. The 130 ft limit is basically ignored in favor of special zoning areas and clauses/exceptions which allow for taller buildings.

Actually, the Seaport area which has a lot of the new construction going on, is right across the Harbor from Logan, so it has as even shorter limit of 250-275'. Pretty much all the new buildings are built right up to this limit making a very flat skyline in the Seaport. This is arguably a good thing though, since after the Big Dig the area was a blank canvas, so the lower height limit is ensuring that the area gets built out as fast as possible.

You're correct. The glass on the west side of the building is moving up to the hotel portion.

THAT IS LOOKING SO SHARP!
This project particularly, the emphasis would be on the detail and they'r nailing it.
I'm so relieved. Better than I had hoped. An absolute landmark!
Will that silvery glass shaft be glowing!?

This photo is spectacular, in that it presents a denseness somewhat similar to Manhattan.

Thanks for the great pictures!

A friend was in my car the other day and we were driving along the "Sure-kill" Expwy. and my friend remarked "Wow, that new building under construction sure is a BEAST!" I took a quick look to see what he meant and behold, it has not only height but a very thick robust look. It seems to have a different scale and massing than the other skyscrapers. I'm not complaining.

Wow... I love the sunrise. Everything looks so nice in the morning. I can't explain it. The way that the morning light shines off of buildings, and the way the air feels... I don't know, I love it.
