Well that's a welcome change. Lounge burger was utter crap. I reckon they stayed around for so long due to stadium crowds.

I'd guess events at the Dome and the Stampede kept them around for so long. Loungeburger was actually quite good when they opened, they just got worse every time I went.

Blaze opens 4 multi-national locations Thursday

Dec. 13, 2016
Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza is opening three U.S. locations and one in Canada this week, according to a news release. All four sites open Thursday, including:
• Central California Coast in The Dunes Retail Center on General Stilwell Drive in Marina.
• West Des Moines, Iowa at the West Valley Mall on Valley West Drive.
• California Coast in Five Points Shopping Center on State Street in Santa Barbara.
Calgary location in Alberta province, Canada on 4th Street Southwest in the Mission District.

In Marina, the restaurant is locally owned and operated by Damm Fine Pizza LLC, which also has locations in Tracy and Salinas. The Canadian sites for the brand are being developed by Five Star Blaze Holdings Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Cypress Five Star, led by Robert Baxter, Blair Walker and Darven Erickson and operating 45 Canadian restaurants across the country.

I heard a rumor from a former Black Pig Bistro employee that the restaurant is being converted into a pub. The pub will be called Bridges on 1st and will open after Christmas. When I walked by it in November there was lots of construction work happening inside.

Here is the site in question:

I've always thought that the Bridges needed a decent pub. Will this be it or have I been missing out on an unknown community gem all this time?

I hope it turns out good, but besides the info I have provided I don't really know anything else. I just hope the drinks aren't over priced.

We are prisoners in our own house': Neighbours fuming over new Popeyes traffic backlog
'The garbage man had to go around the corner to get into get the garbage. It is just absolutely stupid'
By David Bell, CBC News Posted: Dec 22, 2016 5:46 PM MT Last Updated: Dec 23, 2016 9:39 AM MT

A Calgary couple who lives close to a new U.S. chicken franchise is fit to be plucked after traffic congestion has at times trapped them in their own home.

"Right now it sucks," Calvin Wingert told CBC News Thursday.

"We are prisoners in our own house."

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen opened earlier this week on 17th Avenue S.E. to a huge response. Lineups weave out the front door with, at times, dozens of cars waiting to hit the drive-thru.

"For the last three days, they have been blocking 17th Avenue," Annie Wingert added.

Wonder if it will be like Carl's Jr. Huge lineups for a week or so, then nothing.

Hopefully, its good and I don't want it to be this busy every time I go..lol.

I went last week, and while it lined up down the road for the drive though, there were still a few parking spots so I went in. Only took about 20 min start to finish. They were pretty fast.

Enjoyed the chicken too.

Just give it some time.

Look at Krispy Kreme.

On the flip side, there's an Uzbekistan restaurant in Forest Lawn!

Speaking of mediocre burgers, Carls Jr. is opening it's 3rd location soon at 50th Ave. & Macleod Trail.

I was pretty disappointed with Carl's Jr. It's basically McDonalds meat patties with slightly more interesting toppings.

Chicken tenders are pretty good though.

4th actually (3rd full retail though). 16th Avenue, 32nd Avenue and UofC are the others, but UofC is just in the food court in MacEwan Student Centre.

I find them mediocre for the price.

Walked past Lido this morning and they're finishing up the final touches on Red's. Should be open sometime this week apparently!

Anyone know of a good deli type place in the east end of Downtown? (anywhere around the Bow) looking for a good soup and sandwich type place...

Not sure if this is close enough for you, but Grumans is just a few blocks down, south of the CP tracks.
