Virtually everything to the left of the park with the baseball diamond is a part of Northwestern.

I guess I never read the first post carefully, because I didn't know that Terra was going to move its offices back to the Farwell building (v 2.0) on the 3,4,5 floors.

Great pics everyone btw.

Does anyone know if anyone has bought any of the units here recently? The only thing I could find was a crains article from September 2010 saying it's about 50% sold. I'm mean how many $1 million + condos actually sell in Chicago per year in a recession? Add on the LP2520 with 230 more super expensive condos that will be available soon and whatever is left at trump.

I'm interested to see how closely the crown construction follows the rendering... hoping it doesn't.

Hoping it does. The crown is the best part of the building. It reminds me of General Electric in NY:

If the Ritz crown looked more like the GE crown that would succeed. The planned design in the rendering is trying too hard to be ornate as a contemporary imitation. The colorful glass panels are the biggest issue IMHO.
Maybe when installed they'll make more sense, for now they look clumsy & tacky in the rendering.

This week we should see far more noticeable work on the old Farwell building. There's already a mid cornice of sorts that has gone up. As the scaffold rises, it will be easier to photograph.

I've never been pleasantly surprised by LaGrange's classical work before. It always runs the other way.

If it does change, it will most likely be for the worse and not the better (remember the refined dark-green roof color and the crowning spires in the Elysian renderings?)

Yeah, that looks nothing like the GE building. It is just a clumsy top added to the standard beige concrete block design, I have no doubt they will value engineer the top and it will end up looking terrible (just like Elysian). The building adds no value at all to the skyline other then density. Density isn't really a problem in that part of River North

I feel like the same beige box design is just recycled over and over with a new top. That area is already plagued by Elysian, Delwares, and tons of other beige boxes.

Why didn't they try to make a casting of the ornamentation on the Farwell building and use that pattern on the new building so it would match. Precast can be cast into any shape they want so why didn't they try to use the patterns from the old building.
