I can't stand either of these grifters... glad to see it is all getting exposed.

"Impeached Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and now-indicted Austin real estate investor Nate Paul set up an Uber account under a fake name that Paxton used to see his mistress, revealing the extent of the men’s relationship as the FBI targeted Paul for possible mortgage fraud, a new filing in Paxton's upcoming impeachment trial contends."

If Paxton’s wife had any balls, she’d vote that sumbitch guilty if the House impeaches him.

Integrity is rare these days. I'm glad to work for a boss who demands it and leads by example.

I suspect she doesn't have any balls (but I don't know for certain) but it doesn't matter because she isn't allowed to vote.

Okay so my first attempt to post an article with the updated guidelines. Please let me know if I'm missing something. This is getting international attention

Impeachment trial of Texas attorney general Ken Paxton begins in Austin

"Historic trial in state senate centers on allegedly corrupt relationship with real estate developer Nate Paul"

The impeachment trial of the Texas attorney general, Ken Paxton, began on Tuesday – a rare and historic event in the state.

The ultra-conservative Paxton has a history of ethically questionable conduct that dates back to his first term in 2014, when he was fined by the Texas state securities board for violating financial laws.

I mean, conviction won't lock him up, but it'll prevent the scumbag from ever holding office again.

If that happens, I’ll bet a Dollar to a donut his wife will run for governor.

From what I just saw on the news, being impeached and convicted doesn't prevent him from running for office again UNLESS the Senate explicitly adds that restriction after he is convicted. But I suspect that they will include that restriction.

Nate Paul does not finally go to jail. The order for the jail sentence gets a stay.

I suppose this is only true here to the extent that he's willing to pay his attorneys to continue appealing (while losing every step of the way).

I dug into this a bit, since the KXAN article (unsurprisingly) doesn't link to court dockets themselves. In essence, Paul appealed this 10-day sentence to the intermediate appellate court (in Austin, the Third Court of Appeals), and lost. He then appealed to the Texas Supreme Court, granted the appeal but ultimately rejected his arguments last week.

The only reason for the current stay is that Paul is now asking for them to hold off while he appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court.

There haven't yet been any decisions (in this case) where I think Paul is getting special treatment, or where anything out of the ordinary is happening. It's moreso just that most people aren't willing to blow the money to continue appealing these points -- Particularly on the issues Paul is trying to argue here.
