Looked like they were just finishing up with putting in caissons.

Booth Hansen has some higher-quality renderings of 61 E. Banks on their site: http://www.boothhansen.com/portfolio/61-e-banks/

Can't remember if we've seen anything beyond the blurry thumbnail, but this has me feeling better about the project (still a missed opportunity, but...).

Here's an interesting condo amenity trend that I think we'll start to see Chicago developers incorporate, and in doing so free them from having to build balconies that sit unused for half the year:

this is nice, but the ability to grow my own vegetable plants on my own outdoor space is one of the things that makes living in a shared building tolerable and i would never give it up.

that said, isnt this design essentially what theyre proposing? i always just considered these "sun rooms"

Still looks like a fancier version of a Homewood Suits or a Hampton Inn. The way it meets the street on LSD is pretty terrible.

Why on earth would they need caissons for a row of townhouses?

Development in the core of Uptown is close to reaching a critical mass where I think the kind of transformation people have been anticipating since before the last boom is probably going to become reality.

I remember the "river light project" i think back in 2008? I think it was a contest for college students and art firms?, but apparently this is happening. I think it kind of looks silly. But the bridges could use some good lighting.

This is something else entirely which was announced a year or two ago.

They should do it with the Post Office, too. They could even do it on those buildings on the south bank of the river between Lasalle and 225 W Wacker.

Ugh. Even if it was superb design it would still be a minor travesty given that there should be a major high rise there.

I'm actually a big fan of this and think it has the potential to become quite the tourist attraction. Imagine if a handful of buildings along the river and coordinated the displays in some fashion. Maybe not an every night type of thing, but a Friday/Saturday night spectacle or something.

I definitely prefer this to the cable car idea floated awhile back, plus it's way cheaper.

In Lincoln Park, 2317 North Clark has been demolished (1 story retail that was last Walgreens). Does anyone know of plans for the site?
Thanks
