Really like the Beury nighttime render. I'm a little more iffy on the daytime renders, but it could be very nice depending on materials used.

That'll probably get protected status. "Save our historic graffiti!"
Reminds me of the first time Billy Penn was behind scaffolding in the 1980s, and after years of delay they were finally finishing the work, someone was selling t-shirts and pins saying "Save our historic scaffolding!"

It is the only way Philly knows to keep it REAL.

Quaker building variance denied

http://www.philly.com/philly/news/pe...-20170914.html

The zoning board of appeals turned down the Post Bros. request to change the zoning from industrial to whatever they needed for 350 apartments. The vote was 4 to 1!
I don't like the Post boys but this seems Philly stupid. The chair, ex councilman Frank DiCicco said that he hadn't heard compelling evidence for the change in zoning. Maybe his idea is move Amazon into that site.

What in the flying fuck? They'd prefer this building continue to sit empty?? This is 100% politically motivated, and thanks to the Unions. I hope Post Brothers sues the city and the unions.

I've never in my life seen a city government that prefers a building stay empty, and not generate new jobs, new residents and new taxes.

Our government is a fucking joke.

But they'd be non-union jobs, so apparently they don't count. The Pestronks are going to appeal, though, so this isn't the end of it.

"Beyond disingenuous" and "politically motivated" sum it up.

I hear there's a giant company that makes hats that wants to move to lower North Philly and set up shop. So it important to 'preserve' our future possible manufacturing base. Ya, right. But DiCiccoc can always dream.

I would expect that the Post boys will threaten a court battle and then everything will be settled in the next stage of appeals. Too bad though, the ZBA could have used the request for a variance as a chance to negotiate with the Post boys, try to cut the number of units and/or get some below market housing included. But no, we want a huge empty factory to continue to sit there. And in the end the Post boys will get what they want.

The trade unions and the post Bros. really deserve each other; neither make much sense, and both are very busy! But never too busy for war.

I honestly thought that Philadelphia was past all this nonsense by now. Glad to see nothing has changed.

Did dicicco vote against it? Article said 4-1, I'd be interested in know who the supporting vote was
