NMR Engineering and Ashlar Homes have proposed an 8 unit, 6 story rental apartment building on the vacant 36ft x 102ft site located at 114 Isabella Street.

Excellent, I'm glad to see there's a bunch of new projects being proposed for Ottawa. Now would be a good time for them to make Isabella into a pleasant street to live or walk along. But from the drawings, it looks like a "meh" sort of building.

Based on parking plan, there is a lot of wasted space in the garage. 8 units...3 parkings.

They could probably fit five parkings at an angle.

Am I reading the plans correctly: no elevator? I didn't think you build above 4 storeys without one...

Those more familiar with the Building Code, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think for residential you only would need an elevator (for firefighters) where a floor level is over 18 metres above grade... and this one is slightly below that. The new Building Code changes coming into effect Jan 1, 2015 will change this and elevators will be required for building above 3 floors/over 600 sq m.
