Interesting Tweeks

Personally, I like the redesign a little better than the original. The base of the building seems a little more integrated with the plaza and human scaled, and from the renderings, I think I see some new west facing inset balconies. I think those balconies will help identify the building from afar a little better as a sleek and modern residential building rather than an office tower (Not to say I don't want one, just that I like to easily categorize buildings and developments instead of taking a wild guess).

Thanks Whalleyboy for posting this!

trofirhen: I know the windows on both sides are like that. I also recall that they do plan to do a green wall on the one side but it may be. Also the windows are designed for when you're in the building and look out it will kind be a picture frame view. It was to change up from a full wall window something they felt would take away from the look of the building.

invisibleairwaves: From what I was able to find the change is cause the city felt the other one was to far from the plaza so the expanded it out a bit more. But the plus is the retail area is now bigger then before. Also now the restaurant balcony wont be face the plaza it will be facing the street giving a more lively street feel at least along the new road and city park way.

I also did find out they already have a company interested in the hotel part of this building but i couldn't find out who. But know that is a good plus.

I will also say I think now that they did take two floors of the hotel it does look a little better for the tower part.

Looks good. I like the base changes. I thought the previous base was a little thin looking and I can see why they made the change, it does seem to integrate better with the plaza. And let's face it, with the new City Hall having such a distinct look, you need the other buildings in the plaza to be on the same page. Not identical, but not drastically different.

Looks better. Can't wait to see the hole dug into the ground in a year's time.

I like the triangular punched out windows.
Solid surfaces more easily give a building facade some character - moreso than glass.
That's what these windows do.
The spacing of the windows on the north side office floors seems a bit wide, but that could be where the green wall will be located.

What's at the top of the building? They look like futuristic wind turbines...

You know, I just realized the best thing about this development. Not only does it mean I lack a soul (since I've since sold it for a unit in this building) but now I actually get a story to tell my neice and nephew as they get older.

"Back in my day, we didn't have that huge tower over the Skytrain tracks." *strokes white beard*

Only a little? You should've seen the look on my brother's face when I told him that I'd not only sold my soul for this project, but also his left kidney and a firm offer on his liver

Sick, Wicked, and Nasty

That is an awful website - the menu doesn't even show up properly and you just have these elevation views flipping through.

That's about normal for most developement websites. Start off with that and drum up support, then give out the goods when closer to development.
