They're amazingly DEAD now.
Maybe they can come back after the economy recovers.

If they do, then I hope they're taller and in a different location.

Olive 8 had a blue light test last night-- it's underwhelming compared to the green it had the night before and will not have the oomph of Cristalla's yellow.

Great update Vashon! Looks like Escala's a little over half way up.
Saw some O8 guys taking down one of the construction lifts today.
I'm happy that West 8th isn't as bad as the rendering looked. It's a fairly nice filler.

Speaking of West 8th, I was on the roof recently. INCREDIBLE view.

Edit: Didn't realize these were so big, so I'll just keep them as links.

No idea what building this is, but it's in Westlake and it's gigantic.

Great pictures Elysium and Vashon. I never asked this but does 1521 have underground parking? I haven't seen a vehicle entrance other than the one next to the De Ja Vu. By the way, that' the valet entrance right?

Elysian, the building on the first image you posted [U/C] is 1918 8th and the second one is the US Federal Courthouse.

Anyways, here are some shots from last Thursday. First is Escala, it looks really good and those balconies are huge! They're like terraces! I thought the base was gonna be more of a tan/marble color but it seems to be white. It looks fine though.

And also 1918 8th. I added a closeup on the corner to show the people on the top floors.

Lastly a shot of Enso which is taller than I though.

Thanks. And yeah, the Fed Courthouse... until today I lived right across the street from it at the Metropolitan. I figured I'd take some pics of my surroundings before I moved out. Something fascinates me about that building... I should post some more pics of it tomorrow.

Nice pics, Vashon.

The backside of Enso (facing the LaQuinta) is utter garbage.

Nice updates, Vashon.

...but good god--whoever designed Henry Rollins Street should be shot. That thing looks like a 1950s East German dormitory.

Looks like they chose a darker brick for the Gallery. Still gives a good feeling of density and height.

Gallery turned out pretty nice, imo. However, that section of the roofline that they painted black looks odd. It's white in the render that mSeattle posted.

My thoughts....

Rollin Street....ugh....not good. Well, half of it I like, and half I could pass on. It's sort of disjointed looking, as is the trend anymore.

I actually really like Mirabella for some reason. It's a more classic, timeless design, and adds a feeling of density to the triangle.

I agree with the comments earlier regarding Enso. The side facing Denny looks great, but the rear is HORRIBLE! It's not even like there will be another high rise back there in the near future (i.e. people's complaints about certain parts of a building that may be blocked by a future AVA)... so I'm not sure what the deal is there. Yuck.

I do think that Escala will end up looking great...why is it moving so much slower than the other condo buildings UC though? Also, the green light test on O8 was so much more vivid than the blue for whatever reason; I hope they go with the green just for some visual impact at night!

Hood... I thought that cut-out was just not painted yet. Not sure what I think about it if the two-color thing is permanent.

I hope many more 8-12 floor buildings get developed in the city. Theire impact is understated on the skyline but strong on the street.
