God this building is horrible. I'd rather have another trump sign on the trump tower tbh.

The hyperventilating, bloviating, and hyperbole speaks for itself, as does the emotionalism, chauvinism, and irrationality of the critics here.

Like it or not, this is architecture of our time, even if it isn't aesthetically divorced from the world prior to WWII.

Well no matter. I think this building provides a needed contrast and I like the Hyatt.

At least we know that this thread is being tightly watched and policed and any positive comments on the project will be dealt with quickly and forcefully.

I get how people dont particulary like it, but by no means is this a horrible travesty that some are making it out to be. To each their own, if they want to live there. K. Griffin "Mr. Chicago" just dropped over $200 million on somewhat similar in new york.

granted thats new york but billionaires still like old school art deco. he still has property at park tower and waldorf astoria in chicago. If it sells...keep building. IMO.

^^^ But again, this building won't be even remotely in the same universe as 220 CPS. The quality of materials and craftsmanship will be like comparing an iPhone with a Nokia penny phone. Not to harp on that point, but everyone keeps bringing up buildings like 220 and 15 CPW as if they are comparable, they aren't. We will see this made absolutely clear when this building actually gets out of the ground and cladding starts showing up. If the quality of the finish work and materials is actually good, I'll eat my hat. Eat my hat, but still be pleasantly surprised. I would be happier than anyone who likes this design now if they step up to the plate, but our experience with these types of designs is not so great.

Not above street level yet but nowhere near quiet either. 800' buildings require much more extensive foundation work than shorter buildings. This isn't gonna just sprout out of the ground. And on that note I wouldn't expect Vista to reach Upper Wacker level this week or next.

Base for the tower crane (yellow) is on site.

Worker told me he wasn't exactly sure when the crane itself would be erected.
