They've gotten a lot done on the viaduct since I saw it last. I like how you can see the fairgrounds and the airport control tower in the second picture.
1. Geofoam is being placed on both sides of the bridge.
2. Retraining walls are being constructed to cover and retain the Geofoam.
3. The work on City Creek appears to have concluded as it is now fully sealed in its concrete conduit.
4. Concrete deck pours are taking place.
TRAX right of way cut into the road.
New sidewalks are being poured that are much wider and set away from the street. Also, though not visible in the pictures, there are new nice looking black street lights and stop lights.
Unfortunately I found out that having a clear lens protection cover causes some yellow orbs and halos to appear in sunset pictures.

I'm loving how wide the new sidewalks are along North Temple! Also love the green buffer between the sidewalk and street. Excited to see this area become more friendly towards pedestrians, bicycles, & transit users!
...Another thing to keep in mind that FrontRunner stops less frequently than TRAX, and is better for commuting long distances, whereas TRAX has more stations which makes it more accessible.
Sometimes I think having a fruntRunner line without TRAX or street cars connecting to it is like having a freeway running through the valley without any roads connecting to it.
I think FrontRunner ridership would increase if we had a network of BRT,LRT and street cars feeding into it. Although I realize there there probubly is'nt enough demand to justify the cost at this point.
I'm planning on doing a major photographing exploration in Utah County to document some of the progress on the FrontRunner south expansion; I'm really drawn to the Jordan Narrows segment of the project and really want to get some good shots.
Maybe SLCdude and I can team up on this one. It may involve some hiking and trespassing .

Well, the Airport and University TRAX lines will connect with Frontrunner at the North Temple TRAX stop.
The Sandy and West Jordan TRAX lines will connect with Frontrunner in Murray behind the IHC hospital.
From the WVC TRAX line, one can transfer to the Sandy/West Jordan lines and then transfer in Murray to Frontrunner.
All those lines marked BRT, Transitway, or Express Bus are all destined to be rail. But federal planning guidelines say projects have to be financially constrained and dollars have to be spent fairly across the population. But I think their idea is to start some service along many routes and prove their ridership, so future RTPs (Regional Transportation Plans) 10-30 years down the road can include new tRAX lines feeding Frontrunner as you mention.
