With that amount of space, nevermind the height, it would be a true 2nd downtown.

Geeze laweeze would this entail destroying IBM's current R&D campus?

I believe those numbers are inclusive, not exclusive (if they get the additional entitlements, the total site would allow 17, not 25).

But at least for the foreseeable future, it's really only 2M (of office), not 25M (based on the TIA and the restrictive covenant).

Domain 11 has topped out, and site prep has started for Domain 12 - 247 feet with 17 floors.

Construction to start soon on yet another Domain tower

17-story office building would be next to (and taller than) new HomeAway HQ

By Marissa Luck – Staff Writer, Austin Business Journal
2 hours ago

North Austin’s skyline is about to get taller — again. TIER REIT Inc. is preparing to start construction on a new 17-story spec office tower in The Domain in the next few weeks, and it already is in talks with prospective tenants. This is in addition to the adjacent 16-story tower TIER and Endeavor Real Estate Group are building for HomeAway Inc.’s future global headquarters.

TIER's plans to build four office towers near Alterra Parkway on the north side of The Domain are well known. While contractors recently topped out at HomeAway’s tower, known as Domain 11, TIER was waiting for demand to solidify before breaking ground on another tower. Initial site work and development has started on Domain 12, and the firm says it will officially start construction in the coming weeks. The 320,000-square-foot tower will be ready by the end of 2019.

Some photos from this past weekend. This is the view of the Domain skyline from South Austin along James Casey Street at Radam Lane. This view is 12 to 13 miles south of the Domain.

The cranes for Maravilla at the Domain (left), and the cranes for Domain 11. Domain 11 is actually behind the Domain Tower here.

This 2nd view is from West Campus - 7 to 8 miles south of the Domain.

Cranes for Maravilla at the Domain, Domain Tower, Domain 11 (with cranes), and Domain 8.

North Austin's skyline?? That's a bit of a stretch. As much as I like what's going on at the Domain, until they build a few 300 foot towers, I wouldn't call it a skyline just yet. But that was interesting to consider, North Austin's skyline...

I think University Towers blocks the view of the buildings at The Arboretum. I know that you can see them from as far south as the South Austin Medical Center parking garage, and I've also seen them from Saint Edward's University. I've even spotted them from the Travis County Expo Center in East Austin.

It beats Killeen's "skyline".

I think we'll actually see a few 400 footers at the Broadmoor location. They're asking for heights up to 360 feet, but that's only for the main roof. Height restrictions don't usually include mechanical penthouses, so it's possible we could see some buildings at or near 400 feet up there. For example, West Campus is only approved up to 175 feet, but there are 8 new buildings in West Campus over that height. There are actually 10 total if you count The Castillian and Dobie Center, but those came years earlier. Plus, there are at least 2 more that will be taller than 175 feet - The Standard at Austin, and 2204 San Antonio.

Today could be the day for Broadmoor and Brandywine and 360' buildings in North Austin. Today's City Council agenda item #67:

So much for a North Austin skyline, at least for now.

It's "only" another seven week delay on top of a lot of other delays.

I didn't catch why the CC wanted to delay it. Since the only impacted NA supports it, I don't know why they don't just get it done.

The transcript isn't up yet, but the video archive is.

http://austintx.swagit.com/play/05102018-595

Pool, of course.

Though listening to it, it sounds like the delay was requested on behalf of the law department.

Strangely, in the video he stated a delay only until May 24th. (around 3:20 in the zoning consent agenda video segment).

I thought I saw some new Maravilla renderings on here somewhere. But anyway, here are some from the apartment's website. The link below the renderings has more renderings.

I like the attempt of cohesiveness of the color tying the three buildings together, well... that's all I got out of the rendering...would have preferred stacking the 3 into one taller structure but the complex is sort of nice, I guess.

Not Domain related, but does anyone have any more info on this place?

https://www.bizjournals.com/austin/n...e-mammoth.html

Parmer Innovation Center - looks like it will be a large development but (since I cannot get by the paywall), I really have no idea what is going into this place.

It's the Karlin/CBRE redevelopment of the old East Austin Dell manufacturing complex. It used to be called just "PARMER" then they started calling it Parmer Sector X (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7). Now it's called Parmer Innovation Center. Here is Parmer's website:

I was mainly curious if any non-major companies had signed up for retail/restaurant/bar/brewery/etc type stuff in this complex.

It seemed like the biz journal was implying that those types were in on it....or the time frame on getting all of this complete.
