^It looks like the base for a construction crane to me...

I thought that at first but:
1. Why would they need a third crane on the site?
2. That think that it's attached to seems like it will pivot up and become part of the overall structure.

I agree it appears to be a base of something that rotates around the center but just cannot make sense of what it is.

Time will tell.

It's exactly what you think it is, a movable crane on a track.

Looks like one of the M760D tower cranes is being relocated to the movable base arrangement.

Yeah, it was said over on WNY that the crane will be mounted on a movable track and will replace both of the tower cranes on site. I wonder why this wasn't implemented on top of the subway box...

I know I've asked this before, but I didn't get a reply. Does anyone know when they'll remove the railroad support bridge and allow the full weight of the No. 1 Subway to be supported by the huge arches? It looks like they're still welding because I see lots of tarps over the steel whenever the weather becomes inclement, but I'm wondering how they'll remove the bridge if they box it in completely with the Oculus's lower levels of concrete. Based on the pace of construction, that will probably happen within the next month...

I haven't heard any updates regrading the status of the museum. Is construction still on hold due to the monetary dispute between the museum and the PA? I keep wondering if the holes they've left behind the pavilion and the near the future corners of Liberty and Greenwich streets remain unfinished in order to deliver the remaining parts of the museum...

^ I thought they used macrotherm turf rolls, and so the yellowish color in the autumn/winter period. Why on earth are they replacing a year old lawn?

^When I was there on Tuesday there were signs saying to stay off the grass because of reseeding.

You people complain way too much. The Memorial should just use fake grass. That way it would be green all year and you can all shut up.

There has been rapid progress at the Vehicle Security Center site at the south end of the WTC site that has not been discussed here. I trust relevant though, because that is crucial infrastructure for future access to the entire site and obviously interfaces with the transit hub and memorial.

Both images from IrishinNYC at WNY. According to OP, the circular pad will be the base of a spiral access ramp that will allow vehicles to enter the WTC from street level. Personally this was news to me, I had thought the primary access would be via West Street.

also whats with all the dead trees in the memorial plaza? (except for the survivor tree) i really wish they could be green and alive for the summer...

The trees are fine! Calorie Pears bloom earlier the Swamp White Oaks.

A day after my picture, the grass is all green! Wow.

So had the strips been reseeded and covered w/ brown tarp which was taken off yesterday, or were the strips resodded?
