LOS ANGELES | 601 S. Main St (SB Omega) | 390 FT | 38 FLOORS

Here's the First Look at the Historic Core's First Skyscraper

Quote:
Downtown developer Barry Shy (SB Spring, SB Main, etc.) has finally filed plans with the city for the giant high-rise he wants to build at Sixth and Main following years of discussion (via Building LA). The SB Omega tower has gotten a few tweaks as it's been finalized: it was once 40 stories but has been shaved down to 38 stories and its 500 apartments are now 452 condos. As is the current Downtown fashion, the ground floor will now have 15 restaurant or commercial spaces (previous plans didn't show any retail at all). Plans also call for outdoor dining on the sidewalk and a promenade with greenscaping in the alley off Main Street, a land use rep for the project tells Curbed, which should make for quite the lively corner. With plans in the works for a 22-story tower at Fourth/Broadway and a 40-story tower at Spring/Sixth, SB Omega will only be the start in the skyscraperfication of the Historic Core.

It looks 30 years out of date.
