Very nice work. I recognized the building before I got to the bottom of the picture. Very good recreation of the building's massing. I like the use of the 1x2 rail plates on the sides to add to the shape.

One aspect that makes the original building spectacular is the setting at the end of a street with banks on either side (perhaps you could do those buildings too).

Nice. I love that building. It always looks like it landed in Atlanta from space. Cool design.

From the "Other Builders" Department

This creation by Wami Delthron is entitled "Lego Futuristic Skyscraper":

From Wami Delthorn/flickr

While it does look futuristic, it also looks like it could be a design from the 1970s during the transition between "Modern" and Postmodern.

The model appears to be built on a 18x18 stud base with the tower being 16x16 studs.

My LEGO Fisher Building (version 3) is nearly complete:

This version has tan (instead of white) for the Grand Blvd and 2nd Ave facades, the model now includes the parking garage and theater sections, and the model in general has more detail than the previous versions. I also slightly increased the height of each floor so that the total height to roof is almost 7 feet and the height to tip of radio mast is almost 8 feet.

I just got back from deployment in December and havent had a chance to build much(plus we moved to San Diego). While i was away though I finally got the Lego Designer to work on my laptop and did these two buildings. The 50's style diner was my first try, followed by Carr's the "Sears" like department store. There is a three story house being started in a coupel of the picks too. I did do a cheesy Best Buy, but didnt liek the building, but i did like some of the products for sale in the store. I hope you guys liek them and I will take all suggestions. Once, we get evrything i have here rebuilt(by April or so) I will post picks of our big city... working on coverting my Hogwarts express to fit on my 9V chassis

each one of these is modular and fits on a standard 32x32 base. so far the cost to buy from Lego is at around $780 the diner sign is driving me crazy, this is the second version of it.. i know it could be better.

Here's this year's modular house!

Town Hall

This is the largest modular house set yet and includes over 2,700 pieces!

Check out this elevator! It opens up a lot of floor area for more internal furnishing.

This set is very nice for two reasons.
1. It is a nice bit of LEGO architecture on its own. It is interesting that the columns have a built-up design rather than use the new fluted 2x2 round bricks.
2. The existence of the set will allow me to complete a large model of Detroit's exotic Art-Deco Guardian Building since the town hall set has kept Dark Orange LEGO bricks in production.

I am guessing the price will be $199.95 since the other modular sets give you about 2,100 parts for $149.95.

navyweaxguy:
These look like good designs, however you should be able to cut parts costs considerably from the $780 you quoted by using Bricklink to get most of your parts instead of online LEGO pick-a-brick. If there is a LEGO store nearby to you, you may luck out on the in-store pick-a-brick wall since the pricing is by volume (what fits in a cup or box) as apposed to the online pricing which is on a per brick basis. I ended up getting at least a dozen different parts in quantity for my LEGO Fisher Building at my local LEGO store which added up to a not inconsiderable cost savings since version 3 of my building probably uses 20,000 more parts than the previous one.

I completed my Fisher Building model (version 3) last Friday. Here it is displayed the next day at the Ann Arbor train show.

For scale, you can put 6 of the new Town halls in a row and they would still be a bit shorter than the length of the side of the building with the "Fisher" marquee. The model now has over 120,000 parts and weighs more than 250 pounds.

Are you having difficulty acquiring tenants Spencer? (Which is my obnoxious way of asking if your 2WTC project has been delayed)

I also noticed you removed the info about your new WTC's unveiling date on your MOCpages homepage.

^ thats friggin awesome, coming along nicely

I am almost finished putting the modulars together after our recent move. The roof on the green grocer needs to be finished. When i get the time over the next week i will finish the other building and get the train set back up too.

err my Lifeproof case on my phone makes the pic blurry, sorry.

Wow, the Town Hall looks really nice with the rest of the family.

@ Paul, nice job on your recent update. You put some really nice details into your new buildings.
