Wow Joe:

Those are some super photos of the tower.
I will be staying at the Westin in June for a weekend getaway, so it's nice to know that the progress is well below floor 70, which is the floor I will be assigned to.

Maybe the main tower will be close to completion by the end of December. Then they will have to replace all of the atrium skylights, and finally they will be done.

Well, we went up when some of those cardiology types was visiting and they loved it. These pictures are great, you must have had to hold your head way back to get them!

Glass Refurbishment Update:

I talked to Ed Walls, General Manager of the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel, and he told me that work on the project is ahead of schedule, that they are currently down to the 37th floor, and the project will definatley be finished by December. The scenic elevators are about to make their debut after over two years of guest glarring at plyboard, and the final part of the project will be to replace all of the skylights in the atrium of the hotel.

I'll be staying there the first weekend in August on the 70th floor, so I am going to make sure to get plenty of exterior shots, as well as interior shots of this "signature" hotel tower that has been a part of Atlanta's skyline since February of 1976, when it opened as the tallest skyscraper hotel in the world.

So cheers everyone!

I'm still a bit disappointed, they shifted the glass color slightly but only just. I wish they'd taken the opportunity for a more dramatic makeover. A different color of glass or even some patterning.

UPDATE: They are now down to the 35th floor and the hotel room floors start on the 15th floor, then the meeting rooms on 14 and 12 ( there is no 13th floor) and finally all that atrium glass to install. I think they're gonna make it.

The tower is almost complete. I cannot wait to take a ride on the elevator.

Well, that is a good one. I would like to see it where they have used the Photoshop to take out all the wires if you can do that.

I hear what you're saying, but I'm pleased they kept the glass similar to the original. We have so few buildings that aren't re-done with something that destroys their original design and context.

God I hate that. It was a nice looking building.
