Supporters of a proposed toll road that would bypass Atlanta to the west are considering shifting the route east to include more urban counties such as Fayette and Fulton.

Oh man, I didn't even know this project was on the table. Does anyone know when this was announced? Or have any information on this at all?

It's kind of like the first parts of an Outer Perimeter, and it reminds me of the similar argument used for justifying the Northern Arc. Is there any chance the two could connect, say, if either of them were built?

That looks like around 130 miles of ROW not to mention laying the pavement and creating countless interchanges. Wonder how many years of tolls that would take to pay for. For that matter, who's going to pay a toll to drive an extra 50 miles?

Let me guess: it's being pushed by the billboard industry. Kill all trees!

If there was a way to get the Northern Arc built along with this, this would relieve truck traffic on I-285 significantly. I am sure truckers would rather travel the extra few miles rather than spend 2 hours trying to get from 75 to 285 to 85 on a Friday afternoon.

Never gonna happen. People will need to use toll lanes and HOT on existing highways.
