Super Panoramicas de mi ciudad - Novo Hamburgo, sud Brasil!

I decided to make some new panoramics of Novo Hamburgo. The day was beautiful. Despite the sunny look, it was cold (around 10C). But the more important was the good visibility because of the dry air.

1 - this picture shows the same angle of some pictures I took for my last thread. It shows Porto Alegre on the background, 45km away. For those who dont know, Porto Alegre is the capital of my state and its a city of 1.4 million people. The whole metro area has 4.2 million people.

2 - partial view of the east part of Novo Hamburgo´s downtown. Took the picture from my car.

3 - the city seen from BR-116 road (one of the main brazilian roads, 4300 km in lenght, going from the border with Uruguay to almost close to the Guianas,
)
a cidade vista a partir da BR-116. É mais ou menos assim que vc vê Novo

4 - the skyline of the city

5 - same, with "super 12x optical zoom detail"

6 - the city seen from another angle, more to the norht

7 - density!

8 - more density!

9 - zoom at the density!!!!

10 - an interesting commercial building there in the middle, Torre Prata

11 - in this pic, two commercial buildings, Barbie Building, err, I mean, Bento Gonçalves building, and Atlas Executive Center.

12 - Porto Brasil building, 28 floors, u/c, and Dois Irmãos (Two Brothers) Hill at the background

13 - Even more to the north. Density of Vila Rosa neighborhood. Due to the zoom, that church seems near, when in fact its on the other side of the city, at Hamburgo Velho neighborhood (old Hamburguer Berg)

14 - looking towards downtown

15 -

16 - São Luís Catholic Cathedral

17 -

18 -

19 -

20 -

250k, and its part of the metro area of Porto Alegre (Porto Alegre proper has 1,2 million, but its metro has 4 million people)

in this photo you can see Novo Hamburgo in the foreground, partially hidden by some hills, and also a big part of Porto Alegre metro, with Porto Alegre itself being the big skyline in the background, below the hills.

Really? My first impression was to mention that I found it colorful and with diverse styles! I suppose it's a matter of perspective--I'm used to buildings ranging from white to beige to grey to black(in othere words, boring!). Even Vancouver, which has perhaps the most impressive skyline for a city it's size in North America--is predominantly a light shade of aqua-marine. You'd also be hard-pressed to find a North American city of 250K with this kind of density, which seems to be the norm in Brazil.

I love the way low-rises and even suburban style houses, are scattered about amongst the mid/high-rises. Not only that, it appears like it's all set in a park--lots of greenery. Great pics!
