Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Simi Valley, CA

Well, I guess it's finally time for me to show some photos of the Reagan Presidential Library in my hometown of Simi Valley, CA. Whether you approved of him or not as President, the Library itself is beautiful, the setting is gorgeous, and it's a very, very classy place. Hope you enjoy!

That's really cool! Thanks for sharing.

(Maybe now I'll take the time to make a trip to the FDR Library upstate.)

What's so cool about the Reagan Library is Air Force One, no doubt about it. You can walk inside, see the offices, the sleeping quarters, the conference areas, etc... Even the infamous "Football", which is the case containing the nuclear codes and such... And hell, even the design of the building structure itself is cool, given how enormous it had to be to house a 707... Damn, I can hardly imagine how large a building will have to be built to eventually house the current Air Force One 747!

I've been to JFK's in Boston, that was interesting. Same with Clinton's in Little Rock. Always been kind of curious to go to Nixon's in Yorba Linda (suburban Los Angeles/Orange County), but frankly, I'm sure the interesting parts have been sanitized out!

(As opposed to Clinton's interesting stories, which were "bleached" out, if you know what I mean... )

Very cool! I really like the views from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Air Force One along with the other modes of transportation are quite intriguing as well. I must say I am not really impressed with the architecture of the actual library though. I definitely want to check it out after seeing your amazing pictures. Thanks for sharing.

I understand you being underwhelmed by the architecture. It's meant to blend into its surroundings, and of course being a Spanish Mission style, it's certainly not an extraordinarily eye-catching building. That being said, it works very well for what it is, especially given its gorgeous hillside location.

What an incredible place. And I had no idea that Air Force One is on display. This calls for a special trip out there!

Nice pictures. It looks like a pretty cool library and museum. The view is awesome, and having all of those artifacts, like Air Force One, is pretty special.

I've only been to the JFK Library in Boston..but I've been meaning to get up to this one (it's only an hour away)...that Air Force One Building looks pretty interesting. A friend of mine got married at the Nixon Library (though I didn't attend).

When you decide to head on up to Simi, drop me a PM... I'll join you over there!

Great pics. After seeing the Republican primary debate underneath Air Force One back in 2008, I was startled to see the exterior be in a quiet Spanish mission style building... for a moment I thought maybe it was some other Reagan museum. Exterior is definitely a surprise.

As for the vehicles near the plane, I'm surprised the old Silverado was used. I always thought the truck's 80's design looked wayyy to backwater/redneck to be used by secret service or whatever. Also glad to see the Blues Mobile there

Went there earlier this year and really enjoyed it. Beautiful setting and the AF1 room was amazing.

I may go there next month. Going inside the old Air Force One would be at the top of my to-do list. The natural setting looks beautiful and very peaceful. Thanks for giving me a good idea for my visit!
