I was recently told that the parking lot north of the labbatt brewery was sold to a private investor group and that it is earmarked for development, it was also suggested to me that the developers have already approached city hall and have a tenative green light on what it is they intend to build. I have heard nothing about this other then from this individual I was speaking with and they only said "There's a large institution that is going to be there"
Anyone hear anything about this before? Because CLEARLY this is something I want to know more about.

Haven't heard anything about it, but it would be cool to see a big development south of the tracks.

A large institution - there?

Not exactly an institution-type location.

Perhaps a beer institute? A Soylent Green processing facility? A salvation army expansion from up the street for a 26-story mega-hostel for the indigent?

The possibilities are endless...

Many years ago there was a proposal to build a train/bus station hub in that area. Obviously that's not happening though.

Yeah, getting a couple big developments along Horton and Bathurst would really help pull downtown south of the tracks.

Then the next step would be to get Talbot reopened to offer quick movement bewtween downtown and the Hydro Lands.

If I'm reading it right, it looks like it will be for "light industrial uses" according to this application:

http://permitinquiry.london.ca/Permi...nfo&RSN=670967

I couldn't find much of anything else though.

yeah after reading this it doesn't exactly sound like something overly exciting, I am going to try and get more information out of my coworker though. It's a family member of his that is the main investor.
Considering the emphasis on this area from the city however, gives me a grain of hope.

Model for the second tower of One London Place

One London Place is pretty much at full occupancy these days. I recall Sifton saying they will build the second tower if they find a anchor tenant.

In fact all the foundation work for it was done when the first tower was built.
