^Agreed

The skyline is barely visible at this vantage above Lake St Clair.

Humidity plays a factor in clarity, Lakeshore Drive in Grosse Pointe Shores ~20 mi

Boston has a way more impressive skyline than I thought it did.

Here's a couple panorama from an old Windsor thread posted by jodelli, the hill at Malden Park Windsor imo is the best place to view almost the whole Detroit - Windsor skyline including the whole Woodward corridor to New Center.

Edit; after looking at it having the Book Tower cleaned and renovated is going to have a big impact on the skyline on a similar degree to the new hudson or monroe block towers.

This was posted in the Canada section and I've never seen a Toronto shot with such vibrant yellow colour before.

Looks like it was taken from the Niagara Escarpment about 45-50km away.

I like this older photo of Lake Pleasant with Phoenix in the distant background. Lake Pleasant itself is about 43 miles from downtown Phoenix.

here's a shot of Boise from the city's twitter page (https://twitter.com/CityOfBoise) that shows downtown from the east side of town:

So simple yet so beautiful , mysterious, timeless. That Chicago shot might be my favorite skyline picture of the year!

I love this so much. I know Toronto sprawls quite a bit but looking at this reminds me what a city should be. Very dense and vibrant with real country side right outside its boundaries. If it were only more true....

after orienting myself, that photo was taken FROM cahokia mounds (monks mound) near fairmont city. cahokia, il is actually not the same place as cahokia mounds, strangely. that mound is the "false mound"...e.g. the landfill.

downtown (the arch) is about 7 miles, and downtown clayton is about twice as far at around 14-15 miles from that vantage point, as the crow flies.
