Whoa... that's a tall beachfront tower. I pretty much despise this development pattern that walls off the ocean and drops drastically to low-rise and surface lots just across the street... but Sunny Isles is weirdly impressive.

Zom plans mixed-use residential tower in west Brickell | 24 stories

Zom has submitted plans for a 24-story, mixed-use apartment building in the Brickell neighborhood.

The Orlando-based developer is seeking approvals from Miami’s Urban Development Review Board on Wednesday for the 262-unit residential building with 15,258 square feet of ground floor retail space.

Maizon would replaced low- to mid-rise apartment buildings at 1100-1142 Southwest Second Avenue and 221-237 Southwest 12th Street closer to I-95. MSA Architects is designing the project, according to documents filed with the city of Miami.

The apartment tower will have a total of 424,258 square feet with 366 parking spaces and 24 bicycle spaces. Zom also wants four waivers, including a 30 percent reduction in parking, a 10 percent reduction in a driveway width and to replace the required commercial loading zone with two residential loading zones.

Zom plans to incorporate open courtyard areas, an amenity deck and pool on the ninth floor, and an onsite residential leasing center. Along Southwest 12th Street, Zom said in its application that it could include a bike shop and art treatments to screen parking areas above.

Zom, meanwhile, is active in Greater Downtown Miami. It’s in the midst of building Solitair Brickell, a 50-story, 438-unit building near Brickell City Centre, as well as Met Square and adjacent MDM towers.

Just a concept!!!

I'd shit bricks if we actually got two 1,100 ft towers.

Hopefully it will pave the way for studies, and eventually, something big. Miami is thinking big, and growing big. Overtime, we will get many supertalls.

Looks like a typo btw. 1,100 ft in two towers... not 11,000 ft.

Concept Project: One Fifth, With 1,100-Foot Towers Just South Of Worldcenter

According to the architect’s website:

The concepts and renderings MKDA designed for One Fifth, a 4.2 million-square-foot mixed use property in Miami, were meant to position a development opportunity. MKDA created an iconic building, the tallest in Miami, at a central site just south of the new Miami World Center and west of the new high-speed train. The three-tower property is 4 million square feet and 11,000 feet tall [sic]. It’s mixed-use with two hotels, three residential towers, retail and office space. The first 8 floors are retail and floors 9-22 are office. The smaller tower has residential space above the office space, while the other two towers have hotel and residential space above the office space. There are three sky lobbies as well. MKDA completed the concepts and renderings which will be used to get funding. An historic church on the site is an asset.

The Central Baptist Church is located at 500 Northeast 1st Avenue. It was built in 1925, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

^ Interesting concept ! It's zoned for a height of 1,010 feet so the FAA is going to cut it down :
