Took a drive through Kananaskis Country today and we came across some wild horses. Their fur was much too well-groomed for them to have been part of the original pack of 300 - 500 that roam around West Central Alberta. These 4 must have been freed during the flood catastrophe last month.

Photos by me.

Your love of the Okanagan and southern interior of BC knows no bounds, Metro, and it really comes through in your pictures. Thanks for posting them.

Thank you for the compliment! It is an amazingly beautiful corner of the Earth that lends itself to photography. Definitely a unique flavor in Canada. Here are some more pics I took on the same trip around Kamloops

These are all in Lac du Bois Grasslands Protected Area.

My girlfriend and I also saw a herd of Bighorn Sheep. Being from Japan she loved it.

Sundial medicine wheel is an ancient but still used site on top of a high hill with views in every direction. It is above the Little Bow valley east of Carmangay.
This photo shows the approach in to the central cairn of the medicine wheel. Access is driving/walking 3 kms on a dirt track after leaving the gravel road.

Nice Chad!

Have to chime in with the Okanagan love too. We will be in Penticton for Peach Fest this year. Looking forward to it.

I have a friend visiting from Vancouver, so we drove up the Sheep river valley in Kananaskis Country. Unfortunately it started to pour rain and hail.

Road damage from the recent floods:

The access to Sheep Falls is closed. The parking lot and trails have been wiped out. I saw a picnic table wedged in the trees several feet off the ground.

The Leighton Centre is terrific facility for the arts SW of Calgary.
