I actually like that view of the Police Headquarters. When looking down the side at a sharp angle, you only see the vertical, black pieces. Looks cool.

Also, I think the red and yellow colours were just sun effect??

No they were definitely coloured. A lot of the old renders are on Google still, such as:

Would have been cool if they went with the ones in the original render that gradually transitioned from red to yellow.

To be fair, those are the initial renders and the current ones on the website don't show that. Appears to just be another entrance to the skywalk level, likely not worth it for the church to give up their parking lot for that lol. Probably just there in this case to make the render look better.
Fins are an easiy way to add variation/depth to an exterior without deviating from an efficient interior floor plate. That said, some are well designed, others less so.

As to the original renderings/video, those were likely from the original design/fee proposal ie the ones presented to them before the architect was selected.

Not uncommon for an architect to slightly expand an idea beyond the parameters given to them just to show what's possible, potentially encouraging the developer to go further... or just to better complete the design they're pushing.

My car has fins.

The glass looks good. I am avoiding the construction zone because the air is foul with diesel fumes.

Job postings for construction site supervisor and construction project manager for Sutton Place went up late Tuesday. Hopefully that can get moving soon!

They've completed the glazing on floors 5 and 6 (except for crane landing). Started on 6th floor today.

Looks like the podium should be pretty much enclosed within the next couple weeks. 3rd and 4th floors are essentially done.

Street view from today. Click on the image for a larger version.

You'll see some extra black lines on the ceilings of the 9th and 10th floors in the large version. With the naked eye - my vision isn't the most reliable any more - they appear to be suspended and have red caps on the ends. Presumably the fire sprinkler system being installed.

I love this view, especially at night.

I really like the etching on the glass... it'll make the building much more interesting than just a plain wall of glass like Hydro for example.

It's interesting that they went from several video screens in the earlier renders to just the one now. Maybe they realized the plaza was much smaller than originally thought and too many would be overwhelming.

It's rather interesting watching the crews install the curtain wall. The building goes from being a windy, wide open space to indoors just like that. haha

Looks like they can get maybe 1 floor per week done. They just keep circling the building, going floor by floor.

About the fire system. Yes I can see the pipes and red heads on the ends. They're moving right along. There was also a bunch of Hvac tubing being delivered to site today. Seems reasonable they'll meet the June deadline for TDS to move in, barring any disasters.
