11"?!? I realize these are all speculations but that's highly alarming - workers use theodolites to check the accuracy. Somebody somewhere must have realized this discrepancy long ago. Can't wait to discern the actual mishap.

It's been awhile since I've seen the south façade, have they been doing work on the glass or am I just seeing things

Hopefully they don't actually need to reduce the height. It looks just about perfect as is, and it really doesn't need a height reduction. Plus, it's the tallest in the country outside NYC and Chicago. That's a nice title to have.

^ The planned telescoping antenna will allow us to keep the title for years to come.

seriously though it's hard to believe with all the skyscraper geeks here no one actually knows what they're doing up there...

Unless there really have been construction errors or material supply issues, logistics probably explains the apparent "stalling" recently. When things started moving again, the first thing I noticed was the installation of narrow cross beams in areas that will have high ceilings with lots of glass, like the hotel swimming pool and sky lounge. It could just be that smaller details like that needed to be addressed before more fireproofing and glass could go in, since the top most floors are not "typical" (which term I learned from the W Hotel thread).

I did notice a small section of vertical steel peeking above the roofline on the way into town this morning. It could be that they're getting started on the cooling tower....

That's right, although I'd say that the lantern will be partially integrated into the cooling tower, and extend above it.

WTC 3 page in NY comment about cladding stopping for several weeks there too. Definitely seems a glass shortage right now.

As for the shortening, I don't think they can actually reduce the height at this point, since it seems to be nearly structurally topped out (unless they mean the spire, in which case that is entirely possible)

Surely someone has a rendering of the new design?

Guys... the tower is not 11" off plumb lol. That's just absurd. There is no new design and no shortening of the tower.

Just in case you're "fake news," I think they should just glue a little William Penn statue to the cooling tower to compensate for the loss of the lantern.

They can't do that, the weight of the statue might tilt the building even more

Just looking at the webcam, shows a nighttime shot, thing is all but useless & needs to be replaced with a live 24/7 drone feed circling the upper floors; would be good if it’d occasionally stop & interview the workers perhaps with questions submitted by us here in the viewing audience.
