I'll start off by asking a weird question.

If one wanted to sit in on a criminal trial, how would one find out when and where the trial would be occuring?

Have you considered phoning, or dropping in to the courthouse? Trials are open to the public so I would assume they would tell you if you asked. If not, lie and tell them you're press.

Just go down to the courthouse and there will be a list of trials on the docket. You can sit in any ony trial you like...and can come an go as you please. You might not be able to sit in on a high-profile case (Paul Bernardo types), but for the most part the courtrooms are deserted.

Sit in on one, and if it isn't very interesting, move on to the next one. You can usually find a good one. My buddy and I used to go down there when we were in University...it was good, cheap entertainment.

It's an Albany expression.

I've never heard of it either, and would pretty much completely ignore a thread titled this. I do see the mods are being open minded and friendly about the subject though, and allowing us our own "coffee talk" threads that don't have the word "coffee" in the subject.

Just to keep us Uticans happy.

Oh so this is the chit-chat thread! Are we still allowed to post the odd picture of random weird stuff here?

I don't mean going picture nuts like the obscure thread, just stuff to stimulate conversation.

Okay, seeing as this isn't of enough importance to be in it's own thread, I'll ask you all: Where should I work this summer? A brief description of me follows as so.

I'm a 16-year-old male, with a rather dashing appearance. (An acquired taste, perhaps?)
I know too much about too little, mainly photography (As shown by my equipment) and hares. (The hare thread..) I know stuff about computers too. (Built the one I'm typing on. Quad core, 8GB RAM, etc)
I live in the SW. Easy access to route 101.

Enough of that tripe, here's some places I've been thinking of:

Future Shop. I applied in October or something and even got a voicemail to schedule a phone interview. But Bell decided it would be fun to delete my messages after 5 days. Hooray. I don't think they're hiring any more.
Black's Photo. My sister suggested this, it wouldn't be bad.
The dump. I don't know if they would hire me, but I wouldn't dislike driving a bulldozer or something weird like that.
The airport. Again I doubt they'd hire me. Maybe I'd shoot birds if they do that, or I'd just do some other labour.

Places I would like to work:
Mattress testing facility.
Quality control at a bacon factory.
Some sort of photo studio.
Rabbit store.

Places I would not like to work:
Webber Academy

Gimme some ideas, I need some money and my resume is a bit hungry.

For the love of god if you have any self respect, or want to have any, don't work at Futureshop. Trust me on this. Besides, you seem like you have it together.

I emphasize the "acquired taste." A lot. Call it satire. On the upside I'm fairly thin, somewhere around 5'4" and with clothes on 100lbs. If anything I'll end up on the other side of the lens.

Nope it's over 18 there. Being a system builder or something would be pretty good work.

^ I remember back in high school the sweetest job a friend had was photo tech at superstore. There is always Sobeys and Sunterra on the hill too.

Not dealing with customers is a big plus.

If your up for a fight, you can likely fight the over 18 thing, unless they just can't get insurance and bond under 18s.

You've never heard of "coffee talk"? How can you have never heard of "coffee talk"? That's like not knowing how to use chopsticks.

Considering this is the Wikipedia entry for it...

I'd venture a guess that it's not exactly a common phrase.

It was the Midwest Coffee Talk thread that started this coffee thing....

At one point in the skybar someone was surprised to see a thread that was up to 8 pages talking about coffee! At least until they clicked into that thread for the first time.

coffee talk is like a coffee break, neither is neccesarily related to coffee. My coffee breaks are never related to coffee; I don't drink that stuff.
