Return to Tokyo //opportunity strikes

What was originally supposed to be a camping trip to Yosemite or Zion National Parks turned into a 6 day trip to Tokyo once tickets hit <$600 RT from NYC. I was able to hit up a few spots outside the city as well, including Kamakura and a Kowloon Walled City-themed arcade in Kawasaki. Tokyo remains one of my favorite places in the world. The city and its residents just ooze that paradoxical weirdness of being a broadly conservative culture with the utmost imaginative, escapist forms of expression possible. I can never get enough . Enjoy!

Decent catches of Tokyo, I may need some time to digest.

From camping trip to Yosemite into a 6-day trip to Tokyo huh, that was a huge jump and only a real super mind changer could make such MAGNIFICANT switch.

The whole time I was just wondering if anyone - even in Japan - still plays DDR.

Wow. These photos are awesome!!

As someone who lives in Tokyo, it's easy to fall into the rut of route (work/home/7-11) and forget the quirkiness and soul this city possesses; while at times conservative and homogenous but others progressive, down-to-earth, and a city everyone should experience at least once.

Thank you for these! Hope your experience in Japan was one of awe.

It's all modern there. The very same thing that your average French or random person finds ugly where I live will be taken as something kind of sexy, super modern and advanced over there, by the very same buttholes.

It's disgusting. That's why I live the most frustrated place in this universe.

I think I might have seen a few people playing, but most have moved onto the Kinect based games that have more full body integration or other rhythm games.

Wait, most people find higher-end contemporary architecture ugly?? Do most French prefer more traditional forms?

Amazing as always. What lens are you using for the handheld night shots?

Superb. Which airline did you fly to get such a good deal?

How did all those people let you take so candid shots of them?

Not sure for him, but Delta/AirCanada regularly has ridiculous deals to Tokyo, HK, Seoul and Shanghai. I have done the following:

HK- Delta SEA through NRT $495cdn all in
Tokyo - AC YVR - $525cdn all in
Tokyo - AC YYC - $625cdn all in
Shanghai - AC YVR - $595cdn all in

Here we use yegdeals.com (avail to other cities as well).
