The new International Paper building will be across Poplar from the current campus right? I guess the design isn't too bad...it looks like a suburban office park, but the glass is nice.

Not across Poplar Ave. To the east of the current buildings behind the closed down Cozymel's.

well, johnny r i was beginning to think you had jumped ship. i wanted to comment on the ip building. as you presented in your last post, i had the same understanding, when this project was first publicly announced; however, an article came out in one of the local publications that directly contradicted the placement of the new tower. the article stated that the new building would be directly across poplar ave. the article also indicated that there would be two skybridges. so many times these articles are just down-right wrong. i responded to the article to get some clarification. however, although some responded w/ comments and information, it was the same information that i had understood, initially. i knew across would be removing present buildings, and i couldn't visualize a skybridge across poplar and in to the present ip complex, much less a parking garage w/ a skybridge connecting either the new tower or going back to another location across poplar.

the building looks okay. i can't tell if it will be similar to the other three buildings in color and ht. as for something a bit different, it really is a yawn.

ok, march, 2013 has passed, consequently, according to information posted a year ago, site preparation should have begun on the downtown hilton. it has supposedly been downsized; however, the price tag, though we are told has been reduced by 2 million dollars, seems to be terribly high, considering what is being built(?), according to their spokesman, ms. chislom. again, i go back to the time this project was announced, the inability to get government funds, extension, extension, more government funds, but, yet, no hotel. has the work begun? where is the public funds that obviously make up the largest investment in this project? how much private funds are being used in the project? who are the investors? if this is a "come hell or high water project" for a minority, and this is the way business is done, is the city of memphis or shelby county any better off? mitsubitchi and electrolux---could they feel a bit of a shake down, if they watch and hear of these situations in local business transactions? these are fair questions. why does memphis seem to have no national investors available to help finance projects. if asia and other countries are interested in investing in memphis and shelby county, where are they.

^^I doubt that Hilton will be built. Purely speculation, but that small of a hotel shouldn't have this many issues.

EXACTLY! in fact, i am surprised that hilton hasn't made some request for royal phoenix llc to stop using the hilton name, after all the very comment that the brand "hilton" gives credence to lending.
