yes, that would be nice. Thank god we got ICE, to lessen the blow of not having these. And on the bright side ICE is way taller...

Mississauga needs a real downtown too... so im not that upset

^yah, not trying to take away anything from the saug, but they would have looked cool downtown t-dizzle.

As for ice, still find them unrefined and tacky at the top.... let alone the name.

Absolute does look great! But the only places i could see these going (in downtown toronto) would be the ICE site and the U condos site... anywhere else they would look strange (imo)...

Festival steel is coming along Caltrane! ... i'm hoping it'll make this tower look a little more interesting because its really just a box right now (aside from the podium)...

I'm by no means one of those aA huggers over at UT but, I do think they are one of the strongest highrise residential firms in Toronto. "Unrefined" is not a term I would use to describe any of their work. I'm sure Ice from top to bottom will compare well to Absolute.

Dare I say it? What the hell. It's still unfinshed but, Festival's balcony glass is not really working for me. I don't find the colour or finish compliments the bits of window wall. It all blends together into a blah green mass.

Dude, don't be selling Toronto short. We have more transit expansion projects in prep than the past 30+ years combined . This city is clicking on all cylinders from soaring towers to transit modernization and expansion to new designer parks and much needed renos on old ones. Still a lot to do though .... cough , streetscaping cough

Huh? I thought TransitCity had been put on hold and they weren't even building a bus shelter right now.

You could have built them on the eastern side of Allan Gardens. They would have looked dynamite there.

Nope. It's truncated but definitely a go. Not to what I'd hope, but we still have the tunneled Eglinton portion funded, as well as Shepperd East and most of Finch.

It's not good compared to the original plan, but still a lot of stuff ostensibly funded,

What happens if one of the mayoral candidates who back subways over LRT wins? Wouldn't that mean that many of these projects would get cancelled and attention would be re-focused on the Downtown Relief Line, Queen subway, St. Clair subway, Eglinton subway, and a Sheppard East subway?

After that, we could start filling in the gaps and add a few more lines elsewhere.

Even a supporter of subways would be downright foolish to cancel any of the funded Transit City projects. The political will to fund massive subway expansion is not there and hasn't been there since the late seventies. We'll end up with nothing at all.

Which, as you can see Whippersnapper, was Caltrane's original statement that started this line of conversation. When it comes to public transit, Toronto is 25 years behind and still fighting over it.

When it comes to intensification and construction we are way ahead of most of the world. Eventually the transit shortfall will choke off construction unless something gives.
