Actually seeing cranes being lifted up 648 feet would be kinda neat to see, something you don't see every day

The signs along West Georgia this morning indicate No Stopping westbound between 1 a.m. tommorow morning and 10 pm Sunday night

The Sun has a photo gallery of Shangri-la with some surprisingly good shots, including some from the roof:

Confirming I was right about the 62 stories:

quote from the article:

"When the Shangri-La is completed later this year it will stand 201 metres tall and consist of 62 stories, making it the tallest buidling in Vancouver and the ninth tallest building in Canada. The first 15 floors will be occupied by the Shangri-La hotel with condos taking up the remaining floors. Vancouver Sun photographers caught this magnificent building from a variety of vantage points earlier this week.

Perhaps you're unfamiliar with what constitutes an article, my pre-pubescent friend, but that is not an article.

Notwithstanding the fact that we've been through the whole height issue ad nauseum in this thread, can you not just appreciate or comment on photos without making a complete idiot of yourself?

sorry phesto, you've just crossed the line with that idiot remark.

my patience with you has worn thin.

The matter is now going to the Mod.

I'll give you an opportunity to apologize or you're banned.

how hard is it to check the development permit drawings and look at the stats for height and number of stories. SIMPLE.

Even if phesto started the fight, you have no right to determine who to ban on these forums and I do not want to be hearing this from anyone about this matter again.

I'll give both of you an opportunity right now to go back and think about what you've said.

Ok, first, no name-calling and direct insults are tolerated under new rules that went into effect on the forum about 2 months back - that even goes for the use of such childish slurs as "idiot" and "pre-pubescent". The webmaster (Dylan Leblanc) is trying to class this place up... good luck...

Second, just because a journalist states a "fact", doesn't mean it is actually a fact. If you're trying to prove a point that has already been argued to death, please cite a more reliable source or don't say anything at all - otherwise it will only lead to unhappiness for us all.

And third, lets all try to give towerguy a bit of a break. He may or may not deserve one but either way he was not trying to insult anybody so lets try not to jump down his throat all the time. If you would like to prove him wrong, please resort to posting the appropriate facts (with links, ideally) or try to just ignore him. If towerguy is completely out of line then please contact a mod and we'll deal with him as we see fit.

Thank you.

And ditto to what deasine said above.

It really wouldn't suprise me if said journalists source was either towerguy or one of his posts. If media are to use this site as reference, which I know they have in the past, might aswell soon-feed them the right information. you know how screwed up shit can get when a journalist has two conflicting pieces of information.

As said in the past, this has been debated ad-nausium, aswell as many other towerguy related arguments. One of which ended in Jlousa being owed a steak. Posting the same responses to the same stupiditiy over and over again seems fruitless now.

And if Dylan is trying to clean up the site (god bless him for trying), then not only should he focus oncleaning it up visually by disallowing curse words, but he should als clamp down on the posting of false information. I feel that being the credit of false infrmation is far more damning and damaging to this site's reputation than the F-word is any day.

OK, this has gone on long enough! Someone on this forum needs to call Ian Gillespie or his development company, Westbank, and ask: How many storeys, Ian? Sixty-freakin'-one? Or sixty-freakin'-two?

That will settle this for once and for all!

I wonder if the hotel has sold-out for the two weeks of the Olympics?
I tried the website to no avail. I guess the follow up is how fast will it sell-out.
(that of course would depend upon whether booking was allowed before it opened)

How about some crane dismantling photos. A historical time for the tower. Last chance today. Anyone?

The height issue is really not a concern anymore.
