That should add some height then. In that original building elevation that you posted back in July, it shows the residential levels to be 11 feet from slab to slab. The office floors were 14 1/2 feet from slab to slab. The parking levels were 10 feet from slab to slab.

With the addition of those levels at those same heights, that would add 61 feet to the building's overall height - for a total of 908 feet.

Awesome news! Is there any chance yet that it can surpass 900ft?

Wait. The FAA won't allow a building taller than 900 feet in Austin??? Why in the world??? It's not like DT is in the runway flight path of ABIA. I call foul!

Can you elaborate a bit? What is the FAA's concern? Does this affect all sites downtown?

Huh? So, do you think Austin will ever get a tower taller than 847' (i.e., crack the 900' barrier) in the near future?

Oh, aesthetically speaking, is there any way to add a spire (or two) to make this beauty taller? I know, I know...I'm pushing it here.

Yeah, that's unhappy surprise. I was hoping this would crack 900 feet.

Do you know the reason exactly why the FAA said no? I don't believe downtown is in the flight path of ABIA, and there aren't any hospital helipads too close by either.

By the way, I LOVE that you guys are keeping the old house on that block. Kudos for that.

Pretty sure it's a historic landmark so I don't think they have a choice

It could be line of sight obstruction.

GenslerATX,

1) One version of this tower was pegged to be roughly 873' in height. Was it the FAA that forced you to lower the height to its current level?

2) Lynd teased us with the possibility of this tower stretching into the mid-seventies in number of levels...was there ever a version like that designed? If so, how tall would it have been?

Thank you!

Any of y'all ever flown in to Love Field? It's right by downtown Dallas - way closer than where ours is to our downtown. You're practically flying right next to all those buildings - seriously not even a mile away. I don't understand why our downtown would have a problem/height limit.
