SPRINGHILL - EllisDon Corp. has been awarded the $22.9 million contract to build the inmate housing expansion at the Springhill Institution.
"Its fantastic news," Brian Strecko, Atlantic Canada vice-president and area manager for EllisDon in Halifax, said.
Construction on the 192-unit expansion at the institution is expected to kick into high gear in late July or early Aug.
"We're scheduled to have our kick-off meeting with public works next week and then we have some basic paperwork to get in place," Strecko said. "Then we'll get our team up there and do a site hazard assessment and deploy safety measures and get on with building the project."
