About the only thing Airdrie has going for it, and that Calgary cannot provide is a UFA store. Those things are awesome. Does it have a Peavy Mart too? - that would be a close second in awesome-ness.

We got a Peavey Mart in Sherwood park earlier this year. Haven't been in yet but keep meaning to.

Peavy Mart, LOL, my grandfather would go to a location in FT. Sask back in the 70's.

UFA is great for getting pesticides for home use at a fraction of the typical hardware store. At one time, it sold dynamite. My dad, never one to consider safety or regulation in general, would use it to remove tree stumps.

Is Ackland's still around?

A downtown hotel would also help Airdrie I think, get some people dependent on restaurants for all of their meals staying downtown.

Having more offices would help too, mostly retail right now and most people drive in drive out. Propane which is the largest employer in town has a fairly large office but they used an old industrial building and lifted it it up to make it 2 levels right in the industrial park. If they had done something like that downtown it would have helped out there and same with fortis, Alberta head office but the office is located in the kings heights commercial/industrial area. Have those 2 downtown and downtown has a way different feel to it here.
