Hartley deserves to win.
Gaudreau had a great year too and arguably could win as well but playing in the west is a bit of a handicap. I'm going to say he doesn't win the Calder.

Carey Price will easily win the Hart and Vezina. Good for him!

Damn Ekblad got the Calder, figured it was Gaudreau's for sure. Good for Hartley and Hudler for winning awards though.

I thought Gaudreau should have won it too, but Ekblad had a great season too. Gaudreau was already at a disadvantage playing in this time zone, so I can't say I'm surprised.

Ekblad had an unbelievable season as an 18 year old defenseman. No contest for Calder.

Yeah Ekblad is in some pretty elite company to win the Calder as an 18 year old defenseman. Would have loved to see Johnny Hockey take it, don't think he was at a disadvantage playing in the west, he got a lot of attention by the end of the season, Ekblad just outshined him in the end.

I think you're always at a disadvantage when you play in the later time zones, but whether it was enough of a disadvantage who knows. Ekblad did have a great year, and as an 18 year old. You could argue that Gaudreau might be the biggest reason for this season's turn around. I'm probably biased in thinking that he should have won, but if he did I don't think many people would have screamed foul. Either one has a legitimate case.

And realistically, two or three other guys also had a legitimate case for winning (Stone, Forsberg, Klingberg). It was a great year for rookies, without a doubt.

This should be the busiest thread in the canada section today. Draft day and multiple trades.

Word is Bieksa to San Jose.

Boston trades Dougie Hamilton to Calgary.

The absolute destruction of the Bruins is now almost complete. Here is to many, many years in the basement for Boston. Nobody deserves it more than those cheaters.

EDIT: Kessel lasted longer in TO than Seguin and Hamilton in Boston.

Not a bad trade, Hamilton has lots of potential as a top 4 D-man.

Pretty good for trade for Calgary.

Ottawa traded Lehner to Buffalo for the 21st overall pick.

What a waste.

Two top-notch players just tossed away by Boston.
