Site plan for St. Elmo Market. It's 5 floors and around 60 feet or so.

I can't remember if we've seen the site plan for the Cityview office building or not, but this FAA permit lists the height as 74 feet.

I'd like to see an overhead massing of how Congress @ St. Elmo will look once all of the planned projects are completed. I would think the whole stretch between Ben White 290/71 and Stassney Ln. will one day be built up. If that Industrial zone from Congress to I35 eventually gets phased out, I could see that entire area becoming the densest part of south Austin.

Just visited the Farmer's Market in downtown Dallas. I really hope St Elmo rivals Dallas'. It really was impressive compared to our sad little farmer's markets. It was packed BTW.

There are a bunch of lots along there that are prime for redevelopment. That one old ratty motor inn at Mockingbird Lane has been vacant and boarded up for a while. And the lot across the street from there had a house on it, but it burned down a few years ago. That's two sizeable lots across the street from each other. The only thing is Williamson Creek borders it to the north.

Wish they would do something similar in Downtown Austin but yea, I hope St. Elmo will end up being pretty awesome.

One of the longest running non-starters - 1155 Barton Springs - may have moved forward a little today. Around 50 permits were filed for finish outs. This was always planned to be condo as far as I can recall. But some of the permits refer to a leasing office.

Nice. I always liked the direction this design was going, and it looks like it landed on a good one.

Now if only the old Jack in the Box and Taco Cabana lots could be developed.

The north facing units will have some of the best unobstructed views of downtown in the city. And Butler Shores is your front yard... I've been surprised they've taken so long to go up.

The Jack in the Box site working its way through the permitting process as a Starbucks. It will require a City Council variance as it is in the floodplain and they cannot meet DCM requirements.

As for the Barton Springs site, I cannot tell you how many phone calls I have gotten over the years about someone wanting to develop it. I am glad that something finally stuck, and I am jealous of whoever gets those protected unobstructed views of downtown.

I had heard a rumor about that site containing old gasoline tanks unground that was undisclosed and was facing litigation. Have you heard anything about that?

that Is true. It's why Starbucks backed out of their contract.
( they had obviously already started demo.)
The tanks were not disclosed in the deal.
The cost of removing was astronomical and, I am guessing, because of the
nondisclosure, they were able to get out of contract.

I was told by folks from Starbucks regional management that they were out of the deal. You have other info?

All I can tell you is that they (Starbucks) were issued a building and mechanical permit yesterday (the electrical and plumbing are making the rounds). They also have an approved Site plan exemption, and quasi-completed floodplain variance.
I have heard rumors about the tanks, but seen no paperwork supporting it. (I am not sure that they would need any to remove them)

Yep. You are right. Starbucks sign is up and they are wrapping up demo. What a waste of a great site.

Meh. I still see it as temporary. I mean, aren't there like a million Starbucks? We can't have too many of them. It starts to mess around with the universe.

Not safe for work (NSFW)

The building is now planned as an 8-story, 74 unit building by Greystar and Meeks Partners. Here's the latest design that has been floating around.
