FYI, the tower crane base is already in for the Logan twins and they have already packed up the foundation equipment. They sure are wasting no time.

If not (although I find this quite unlikely), I'd imagine these will be some of the largest, most expensive (at least chunk price-wise) tower rental units around town....
The Curbed article which covered it said the lawyer for Smithfield wouldn't say if it's condo or apartment. One thing is for sure though - they won't be cheap. 23 floors with 58 units is less than 3 units per floor. I'll bet that there will be numerous floors with no more than 2 floors on them. Maybe a few with more like 4, but I'm sure it'll be luxury and not cheap. There will be some residences with private decks and their own green roofs too.

You know it's a boom, when you can't track the projects anymore.

242' at Jackson/Damen, plus whatever that fin adds!!!! The evolution of our second CBD at IMD continues.

Good site plan for Rush, hard sidewalk edges while holding corners and a interior courtyard from Jackson, the better pedestrian street. Not loving the Blackhawks training center with the surface lots against Ogden, but perhaps that is still subject to change.

The Sinclair, aka Tower of Jewel. 12/11/2015

Lot of equipment on site. Looks like some of the crane has arrived too by the first picture.

Future home of Viceroy Hotel. 12/11/2015. Looks like the entire facade of the current building has been removed. The stuff you see there are wood slats. I would assume the facade work is done and they'll probably start some sort of construction soon-ish? I'm actually kind of confused. Are they going to demolish the existing building, build a new base that's similar and then attach the facade on there, or are they going to not demolish it and then re-attach the facade once the high rise portion is far along?

No doubt - they already have the permits in place to build the foundation and structure thru the 3rd floor. Just need to get all the equipment on site and start, which looks like they're doing. I'll bet it's U/C next week sometime too

Don't mean to make this about politics but I was wondering what your guys thoughts on how this whole mayor scandal may potentially effect and influence this current resurgence in construction here in Chicago?

The only projects of significance in next week's Plan Commission seems to be the Mega Mall redevelopment (220 units, 98 ft max height), new office building in the Kinzie corridor (the one Spyguy posted, 134 ft, 149 mechanical height), and the highrise planned for Chicago and Wells (57 units, +300 ft). All other projects have either been on the commission's before (like the fugly North & Clark project) or are small developments.
