HELSINKI - "Finland’s first real skyscrapers"

Helsinki plans to build skyscrapers in Pasila district
Architect envisions 40-storey block reaching up over 150 metres

Quote:
According to new plans, ten high skyscrapers are to be built in Helsinki’s district of Pasila, on the southern side of the Pasila railway station.

The tall buildings would be Finland’s first real skyscrapers and the plan is to build them at the end of next decade. The tallest structure would be about 170 metres above sea level.

The tallest building itself would be more than 150 metres high, with a panorama café open for all on the top of the building. [...]

Good news for Finland, it certainly needs more highrises! But a decade sounds like a very long time, especially considering Empire State Bldg was built in less than a year.

It's a vision, not a proposal. They might not even get built.

Like usual up here the urban planning is... plazas everywhere! It bugs me that urbanity is virtually out-lawed in new developments here, and it seems the Fins have to deal with the same crap. The buildings themselves look pretty good tho.

cool plans hope thay get put through the scandinavian countries better start looking up into the skies instead of building flat all the time.

It just isent responsible in the long run. the cites just get to large in areal that way and ugly too.

dont really know how the situation is in findland but i hope it isent like in norway wich i believe is even worse whit most of the city cores in the big places regulated for max 10 floor and if someone wants to build something close or a little bit over people just go crazy about it in a negative way its so sad.
