They apparently do now. "The company was founded in 1990 and is based in Delta, Canada. As of December 4, 2017, Choices Market Ltd. operates as a subsidiary of Buy-Low Foods LTD"

I didn't now about that (and neither does their webmaster!)

I wonder if that makes Choices a candidate to take the former Safeway space at City Square (or part of the space)?
I was thinking that as a smaller independent, it wouldn't be likely, but if Pattison is behind it, it may be possible, but Choices would be seen as more of a direct competitor of Kin's Farm Market (wonder if there's a non-compete in Kin's lease?)

If Choices is staying put, it may be less likely for Pattison to open a Buy-Low or a Nestor's at the old Safeway site,
although if Choices is going to close for redevelopment, a "replacement" store like Nestors could be possible (like at the Independent with Buy-Low at Kingsgate).

The restaurant space is going to be a Quanjude Beijing Roast Duck restaurant. I believe it's set to open this summer, but it always seems restaurants open later than anticipated.

There are a lot of empty storefronts in Cambie Village. I'm surprised the nearly empty southwest side of Cambie and 13th hasn't been redeveloped into something considering the Canada line stop just 3 blocks down the hill.

I wish a vacant storefront was being redeveloped instead of an active business like Pronto.

Is that the same one as on West Broadway? Never seems that busy.

I never knew there was a triple o's at the CBC plaza until I drove past friday, apparently it opened in 2015

IIRC, always been a Triple O's there since the expansion was built.

an inflexible landlord or City not allowing a blade sign or
tenant's stubborn adherence to the shape and proportions of the "official" logo.

I mean from White Spot locations, I don't think they are dumb when it comes to signage so I'm guessing it's a CBC restriction. I guess they don't want burgers to creep onto their branding. There should have been signage out near the sidewalk if they were smart.

In looking for a pic of the place i saw an article that says they are looking at rapidly expanding in Asia currently.

CBC real estate dept out of mtl is very very particular. We looked at leasing some space within this building and the whole thing was kiboshed by our own legal dept at the 11th hour due to cbc's inflexibility.

I think CBC outsourced its leasing to a division of SNC, which would explain a lot.

The CBC's 262,000-square-foot building there, which is 32 years old, will be retained, but there are plans to sell to developers the excess density the site was zoned for but that the CBC does not need. This would allow a developer to build on the adjacent parking lot, pending official approval from local city authorities.

I guess once the Art Gallery/post office get redeveloped they'll have more incentive to maximize the value of the space.

I can't remember exactly but there was some sort of Cafe or Fast Food place in there before ... and they didn't last long. anyone remember?

No, I believe the new Cambie location is related to the chain in Beijing. I heard this was going to be their second location in Canada (the other being suburban Toronto).

I believe it was simply vacant prior to White Spot. I used to live next door and recall seeing the "coming soon" sign in the window for close to a year before it actually opened.
