Calgary, Edmonton game was pretty entertaining towards the end. Calgary comes back and wins in the last 3 min. Only pre season but pretty cool. Revolving quarterbacks the whole game.

Weird how the first games this year aren't on Canada day... usually it's the kickoff isn't it?

Wow, I really think BC has all of the tools to pull off a season of 14 wins this year. They seem like they're head and shoulders above the other 7 teams, if not, the western ones for sure. The rest of the west is up for grabs and I think being .500 might be good enough for second. Obviously, a lot can happen during the course of a season, but the way it looks right now, I am going to predict:

BC
Calgary
Sasky
Edmonton

Hamilton
Montreal
Toronto
Winnipeg

I think the top three in the East can probably be interchangeable, although I think the Argos would need a few breaks to grab first. I'm sorry Winnipeg, but as confident as I am that BC will be good, I think you will be bad. (Of course, I didn't think you would be good last year either...)

"Rider Pride" is starting to flare up all over the place.

It's incredibly annoying.

I think you placed Sasky too high on your list. I think they will be dead last in the west, and that Winnipeg will be second or third in the east.

The Eskimos may have to count on their defense and special teams to win them a few games early this season until they figure out which quarterback and kicker won't cause the team to fail.

Sorry Hamilton, but even with Burris I don't think the Ticats will be first in the east.

I'm not saying anything about the Argos until the season is almost done. I learned not to expect greatness, even with the season 2/3 over and a playoff spot secure. (Friggin Leafs) But go Ricky!

My prediction this year
west:
BC 13-5
CGY 9-9
EDM 7-11
SASK 5-13

EAST:
HAM 10-8
MTL 10-8
TOR 9-9
WPG 9-9

Hamilton Calgary grey cup Hamilton will win 27-24 I think Calgary can upset BC in the west final they always have close games. Winnipeg will get west crossover because the qb talent is so weak and thin in Sask Edmonton and Calgary

Wow, people in Vancouver are getting bent over every time you get a beer, I feel for you guys. Do you get a decent beer at least? or is it Canadian or Coors Lite like it is here.

I think Calgary is so hard to predict this season. Will Tate regain his form that made Burris expendable? Or will he cave to the pressure of being the guy to run this team. It sucked to see Sinopoli go, but I understand the need to keep a vet like Glenn around.

I think BC will run away with the West during the regular season, but hopefully Calgary rounds into form by November. If they do, they could challenge the Lions in the playoffs.

My predictions...

BC: 13-3... best team in the CFL.
Calgary: 10-8... Tate will have some difficulties dealing with the pressure early on but will adjust.
Edmonton: 6-10... They will miss Ray.
Saskatchewan: 2-16... Horrible team! They lost Fantuz and Durant is by far the most overrated QB in this league.

Montreal: 12-4... Hard to go against the Calvillo-Richardson-Whitaker trio.
Toronto: 10-8... Ray will lead them to a playoff spot.
Winnipeg: 9-9... Last year was a fluke.
Hamilton: 7-11... I don't think Burris is the solution for the Cats.

Nicko your picks are weird you have some teams playing 16 games and others 18 the CFL schedule is 18 games NFL is 16 games. As for your picks Montreal really didn't make any big moves and they are starting to really get old now father time is going to hurt the Als now.

Haha, 2-16?? I sure hope it isn't going to be that bad! The suicide rate would go through the roof!

Durant may be overrated, but in the group of him, Tate, and Jyles, he is the most proven, although I would say Tate has the highest upside.

The reason I think the riders can be better than Edmonton (they'll both still be below average) is Durant > Jyles especially when the game is on the line. Durant has led countless comebacks and late game heroics, whereas Jyles seems to fold under that pressure. Maybe this will be a different year for him, but I don't think so.

Agreed.

I've talked with a bunch of Eskies fans here, and the general consensus is "why did we get rid of Ray?"

We've lived through Jyles here in Winnipeg. I don't think he's your answer for QB.

the league seems so weak , and the lions are pretty strong with by far the best QB. Lions 17-1... could happen.
