Some glazing has started going up on both the NW and SW corners.

Siding/Windows going up. Liking the quality so far. Will provide a nice contrast with the Yard.

You can also see some of the framing going up for the tapered out geometric windows going in on the front. Will be interesting if those details come out as nicely as they look in the renderings.

With how dark the buildings are right at this site, the dumbell building would actually stand out with the color it is suppose to have.

Well the exciting thing is that now that they've scrapped the Florentine pattern we have no idea what color it will be.

Oh, please say they're scrapping the stupid window placements too. The basic structure of the buildings is fine, but they're trying way too hard to be wacky.

You're right. I stand corrected! I had no idea how similar these two buildings were.

Photos: Work progresses on Burnside Bridgehead project

The Block 75 mixed-use project at the Burnside Bridgehead, a joint development between Urban Development + Partners and Beam Development, continues to take shape. The ten-story mixed-use building will feature ground-floor retail, creative office space on floors 2-4, and six stories of apartments on the upper floors.

General contractor Yorke & Curtis Residential began work on the Works Partnership Architecture-designed building late last year. The concrete and steel-frame building was topped out last month, and crews are busy installing the curtainwall on the building’s north and south facades, framed exteriors with metal paneling on the east and west sides, and framing and roughing in MEP work.

The project is slated for completion in mid-2016.
...continues at the DJC (no paywall).

It looks like this building is going to be called "The Slate". Both Beam Development and Urban Development Partners reference it on their websites.

So much blackness at that intersection at the moment, but I do like how this one is turning out. Then name isn't half bad either.

That's why I'm hoping this one will be as reflective as the drawing suggests. A cluster of blackness would be quite a shame.

Well - The Dumbbell will certainly stand out as a spash of color between two dark towers

Im not sure I like how the glass and cast "boxes" (or whatever they are called) stick out. In person, the finish seems way too forced to me.

But I am probably in the minority. I kinda like The Yard ;-)
