and I totally overlooked One King West. That is probably one of my top 10 favorites in the world. Very beautiful elegant building for sure. Just forgot about it as it was one of the first ones built in this boom.
Fair enough. Since we're on the topic, my personal favourites of the current boom that are nearly topped out/completed are:

1 King West
Four Seasons
Shangri-La
Telus House
Casa
X Condo
One St. Thomas
Montage (yes, of CityPlace)
Market Wharf

There are other towers that I consider good, quality designs, but the ones I listed can stop me in my tracks.

and what the hell? Why the accusations of taking a swipe at Toronto? Just because the developers there put up cloned boxes doesn't mean I'm hating on the city. Obviously I was talking about "our towers" in the context of Toronto, since I currently live right outside the city(moving to Calgary tomorrow), and this entire conversation is about Toronto and whether or not at least half the towers built in this boom there are shit boxes. You guys don't think they suck, I do. The end?

Just because I don't like the shitty design standards(which isn't only centered on Toronto of course) doesn't mean I hate this mega-boom. Regardless of anything, a new residential/commercial building is better than a brownfield or a parking lot.

I've seen to other cities around the world with large amounts of residential highrises such as Hong Kong, other Chinese cities, Manila, Vancouver, Miami, Panama City, Brazilian cities, etc. When you have many (ie. hundreds of) towers going up at the same time period you're bound to have design element similarities and repetition. Every one of those cities I mentioned feature repetitiveness so when put in context I personally don't find what is going up in Toronto to be that bad.

It's fine if you don't like them, but for the most part I find the "boxes" to be of fair consistent quality. I've enjoyed much of the construction boom in the past decade, and how it has enhanced the downtown area and urban realm.

I study and record Toronto's current developments extensively so I know which architects and developers are good and bad. There is generally a noticeable difference in quality between the standard stereotypical box (ie. Casa, Burano) and the green glass condos that litter the waterfront. The main problem I have with recent new additions are cheap faux historicism creations and crappy suburban green glass schlock like this being built downtown: http://www.emporis.com/building/wate...toronto-canada

And all this time I thought this project was 300 Front.

Guess that project is further east.

Therein lies the problem. I have the utmost confidence to say that you are deluding yourself when it comes to your design standards. You tend to dismiss quality over it not being "note-worldy". Any plebeian shares a similar manufactured stratospheric standard.

I was surprised to see the top ten first but then I realized you had to go to the next two pages. But it's still nice work Koops.

Big 4 including Burnaby, since they are just beginning to enter a Mississauga-style boom, even though they're less than a third the size.

Agreed. That's why I created the construction and proposal lists for Canada outside of Toronto... as it's kinda lame the all we see is 90% one city in such a vast country. Those lists include 5 - 6 cities and everyone can still see Toronto everywhere else.

Then everyone freaked out on me for wanting to see a tiny bit of... diversity? Meh.

Those threads are still around. I'm genuinely curious as to why people don't post in them more.

People usually don't look past the last 20 most recently active threads. That's prolly why.

I tried posting in them a couple times, I liked them.

The 11 to 30 is kind of a funny list right now, it is all Toronto, except 1 Calgary and 2 Burnaby, just strikes me as kind of funny that Burnaby is one of only 3 cities on this list, and twice.

That's why I created the Canadian City proposals thread. It doesn't need to be tall to be posted.
