I think I know the scariest job, it's the guys who stand at the top of that partially assembled crane waiting to bolt in the new pieces.

I came down during my lunch to watch them put a crane section up. I gotta tell ya, coming down Central, after you go over the Hance Park bridge, that tower crane looks freaking awesome! It's going to be an amazing location for highrise coming into Downtown!

Technical question:

I saw them lift a pretty big section (it's now on the ground on the north end of the lot) up to the top, pause for a moment, then lower it all the way back down. While they were lowering it down all the guys climbed down the crane to the ground. Would this more likely be done because they made a calculation error and realized they were already as high as they needed and that part wasn't necessary yet? or more likely because of some instability they discovered that needed repair before they go higher?

I'm across the street watching. They climbed down to just above the Zone A sign. Hammered out a bolt or 2 and are replacing them with some the lift brought up to them. Must've been something wrong with the bolts is all I can gather.

Been waiting to see this crane go up way too long. Like since early 2016. Finally! YES!

...and agreed...looking forward to seeing the other cranes soon....without all the wait, hopefully.

The crane is extending higher than the picture. Looks like they won't have to extend it. This is going to look awesome.

Watching them finishing up the crane gives me high hopes that great things are about to happen with Downtown Phoenix. I mean this project has been fought against, tooth and nail...even with the city telling them "no GPLET for you".

All the odds were stacked against the Stewart and yet, it is going up. I think we are on the verge of seeing many great developments to come for the core. I can't wait to see more upcoming projects.

Derby...you're next!

Won't see me complaining about a tall, good looking building that partially hides wacky looking Good Sam. Also helps connect Downtown to Midtown
