Anyone seen much recent progress on the Traffic Bridge? Structure has been in place for some time, work has been done on Victoria Ave (new curbs and bike lanes) but I can't recall much happening recently on the bridge itself... I wonder what is left to complete before they open it, or are they waiting until completion of North Commuter Parkway to be complete so that the openings coincide?

There is a little blurb at the end of this article which I believe explains this. long story short they are waiting until next summer to complete paving of the deck and landscaping. So any progress at the moment is likely minimal at this time.

What will be interesting to see is if the commuter bridge is complete and the Mcormond/college drive interchange isn't. I am sure they can get the roadwork from the bridge to that interchange done by this fall.

What "NDP/democrat" (what does NDP/democrat even mean?) government are you talking about? Sounds like a typical conservative rant, clueless, to me.

isnt warman and martvensville supposed to grow lol ? and our industrial sector expand north?

typical NDP, clueless

If you look at some of the plans for different sectors in the city you will see that an interchange for this intersection is in the works when the timing is right. If need be I will find you a link to city planning department.

Anyone see that video of the revamp of the cloverleaf at circle and 8th, instead of fly over they want to put tunnels.

We're talking about where 8th passes under Circle Drive, right? If so, that's a Diamond interchange.

We have a Cloverleaf where Circle Drive becomes Highway 11 and Highway 16, but that's the only one we have, I believe.

thats an interesting design. But i like it. construction will be chaos while the lanes are widened and tunnels are dug out, but once its completed that will run so smooth. no more stopped traffic trying to turn/merge onto circle. 10-15 years is still a ways away.

Reading the Star Phoenix this morning, it appears that the interchange in question is the Cloverleaf where Circle Drive becomes highway 11 and highway 16. Proposed price tag is $280M.

curious to hear everyones thoughts on it. i always imagined a flyover to utilize the turn to circle northbound-from circle eastbound, but a tunnel will work just fine.

Circle Drive - Highway 16/Highway 11 interchange

Here’s a link to the video of the proposed interchange.

Good for Saskatoon for being forward thinking. The cost of the project doesn't seem out of line at all.

Thanks for posting a link to the video.

After viewing the video it would appear that the main changes from what is currently there are as follows:

- Eastbound to Northbound Cloverleaf is replaced with a tunnel
- Westbound to Southbound Cloverleaf is replaced with a tunnel
- Additional separate lanes between Preston and Highway 11
- A separate roadway for Southbound traffic to exit into Stonebridge (I particularly question the need for that one)

This would get rid of the overhead clearance issues that currently exist and eliminate the congested weaving zones between traffic exiting and entering the adjacent cloverleafs on the Eastbound & Westbound roads.

For my share of $280 million, I would expect more.

It does seem awfully expensive for what is being proposed--isn't it roughly the same as the entire Circle Drive South project?

Circle Drive South was reported to have cost about $300 million when it opened in 2013. That was pending the outcome of the lawsuit between Graham and the City.

Can anyone report what shook out in that case? The City was originally charging Graham Liquidated Damages in the $1.5 million range due to late delivery. Graham then counter claimed for $19 Million because the City was late making some of the land available for construction to begin. Last I heard, a couple of years ago, it was going to arbitration. You'd think that the media would be more interested in the outcome of an arbitration involving those dollar values.

Nice! The short stretch between Hwy 11/Circle Drive and Preston Ave. operates like T.O.'s 401 Collector and Expressway lanes.

only thing id like to see is taller towers at the 22nd/idylwyld intersection. should be able to go as tall as we can, but just for that paticular intersection. the rest looks great to me.

i wonder what type of feedback will be given by the citizens

I have mixed feelings on the proposed changes. As a driver, I'm generally not a fan of eliminating lanes and find that stretch of Idylwyld usually not that bad, so long as you keep to the most easterly lane, both northbound and southbound.

However, the current "turning lane" from Idylwyld southbound onto Auditorium Ave (by Cactus Club) is only about 2/3 of a lane wide and creates a real hazard, either backing up traffic or having passing vehicles squeezing into the adjacent lane. Similarly the mixed turning/through lane northbound at 22nd Street causes confusion. Fixing those two issues would be very beneficial.
