The "Foutainhead" is back... with some SketchUp Buildings.
It's been a while since I came back here to do some SU work -- with work and all. I thought I share some more models I did in SketchUp. This is thread I did in '09 (http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...=174254&page=2)
Here's the Up Tower I did a while ago, it's heavily long file, so I decided to do a textured version of it, check it out... from '09 thread - #29

I designed it myself in SU in 2011. Ah, the joy of inspiration. Granted, I just had to share my work, I can't recollect the floors/height of the buildings so bare with me.

...is the Hoffmannstahl. I designed it myself at the end of 2011, and try to do a funky design concept. I just love how it spells "different" to me. This is a low-rise building.
As you can see, I have decided to make them textured-in (glass structures and detail); because my full-detailed ones are quite big in file size.
I kinda wish that SketchUp would conpensate on file size structure. In the meantime, I just CANNOT keep my paws off of SketchUp when it comes to doing Architecture work.
It's so much possibilities, and the wealth of works from members here proves it is most valuable. If only it can do organic stuff -- we shall see.
I miss you guys so much, and hope to crash here from time to time. By the way: anyone know what's going on with Burjdubai91 (I hope I got his name right). The last time I checked he did the Country Expo which was conceived 'til the end of '10: I was the one of many who contributed. Hope he's doing okay.

Welcome back Fountain, good to see you injecting old blood back in the forum! I really like all those designs, very North American, although the Hoffmanstahl reminds me of modern Dutch architecture jazzed up a bit! I think my fav is the Up Tower for massing and proportions. The stepped setbacks work particularly well with this building.
I can understand why you want to fill in the facade rather than add floor plates, columns etc, but will you be applying reflective textures to the glass on those buildings? I think this would just improve the renders a little and give them a bit more 'punch' and 'polish'.
WB!!! Truly inspiring! I love the UP tower a lot, and also in the same style, the Cosair.
The rounded facades maybe should continue with that shape until the ground level. It doesn't really make sense to have a bigger square platform. Better if parts of the rounded facade hang in cantilever and the square platform is reduced in size.
On the flip side of the building the setbacks should be ornamental or suggest the rise as in steps. I only make these observations because these two buildings are really worth paying attention to. thumbs up!
800 Century Plaza is stunningly elegant, maybe too sturdy (it could be taller) but marvelous and deserving of a ground level finish. It reminds me of Cesar Pelli's WFC and Cannery Wharf - Roman, Classic without rehashing.
I don't like the Dutch Lo-Rise but it's an exercise that puts the other three in perspective.
Absolutely beautiful designs, all of them! I can't pick a favourite. Maybe shapewise the Hoffmannstahl pleases me the most, but the 800 Century Plaza has a really nice vertical emphasis on its facade. I think any one of them could be a great landmark in any city.
I appreciate all responses. It's what keeps my inspirations going. Everyone's designs are great.
Now for another concept I did 2 years ago, but shelved for reasons of SketchUp's versatility. I did a swirled up version of twin towers I call - iTe Spiral Pad.
Here's the idea I did a while ago in one of my building rundowns...
I wanted to put like a helipad on one of the twin towers. Those weren't of a low-res version, so I might think of adding it - who knows!
Almost, when I think about it, the twins themselves almost resembles the newly built Absolute North and South in Mississauga, but without the twisted elipse shape like those two.
I just love abstracts!
Interesting concept, a bit too "organic" shape for my taste in architecture. It would be interesting to know what technique you used to make them in Sketchup.
