WOW - outrageous commemoratory lighting . . celebrating marriage equality . . .
the antenna serving its function well . . brilliantly announcing history . . .
Oppressors brought us tragedy . . . We rebuilt . . . Now more jubilant liberation . . .
Thank you New York Guy for capturing and posting these important photos . . .

White House rainbow lighting was magnificent as well . . .
Surprisingly it wasn't tacky . . It was sublime . . .
Joyousness on the heals of the President's Pinckney Eulogy . .
a righteous castigation of gun violence . . and symbols of racial oppression . .

Important symbolic Architecture - Light - Love - Color - Politics - People - History . . .
All intertwined . . Poignant times . . .

So far the rainbow scheme is my favorite lighting scheme on this building. I really hope they do it again next year for pride week.

The lighting on the mechanical floors weren't on last night - it really took away from the coloring of the spire. From my vantage point on the Brooklyn side of the river, the contrast between the shimmering light show of Midtown and the dismally static spire was very apparent. The WTC looked about 300 feet shorter.

I wonder why they turned it off? That's probably the first night I've seen it off in a very long time. Even after midnight when they turn the spire off, they leave the mech floor lighting on through dawn.

It's actually on a daylight sensor, so it turns on if it's dark at all. I wonder why it was off.

Are the mech floor lights white or are they addressable LEDs like the spire / base?

Moody's close to taking space at 1 World Trade Center

Quote:
Moody's Investors Service is close to signing a deal to take two floors at 1 World Trade Center. The ratings agency is expected to take 80,000 square feet at the 3 million-square-foot tower, owned by the Durst Organization and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, according to the New York Post.

The deal would be an expansion for Moody's, which is headquartered in 680,000 square feet at Larry Silverstein's 7 World Trade Center. The company couldn't expand there because that tower is filled up. If the deal is completed, the lease would be the largest for 1 WTC since last year, when High 5 Games signed up for 87,600 square feet. So far, 1 WTC is 63% occupied.

One World Observatory

I went to NYC last month and got in to the obs deck right after 11 pm... It ended up with me basically having the whole observatory to myself!:

Full panoramic (pretty dark):

Is there another new page that people have moved to for One World Trade? I know it's moved before from the original to this page.
