Look between the panes... I'm quite sure there are mullions between them:

It might seem that way; does it not seem it is instead just sealant?

That is fine, lord of the paradise that is greater Detroit, so long as you also always post the very same comment to every article you see on the internet about Thanksgiving Day parades, Mardi Gras, Fourth of July fireworks, Hollywood movies, professional sports games, and practically any other recreational activity you could participate in with your fellow citizens. So long as you're consistent in avoiding going out with the public at all, we are definitely cool with that.

I suppose it might be sealant but its thick enough that I would guess it isn't. Either way, I like the pattern.

I know what a mullion is and those are not mullions. Those are simply joints between the panes. A mullion is raised above the surface of the glass like the i-beam mullions on mies buildings.

Not always. You can have flush mount or recessed mullions that would give the same look. Until someone gets a better shot/look I would have to agree that they are not butt glazed... the space between panes looks far too large.

My definition of mullion is anything wood, aluminum, bronze, steel, etc. that divides two panes of glass (except between the small individual panes of historic windows - those are "muttins"). A standard full mullion is visible on both the exterior and interior and clasps the glass in place. A four sided silicone glazing system has mullions on the inside only and uses sealant (silicone) to fill the gaps between glass at the exterior surface. This may be what we are seeing here, but I agree that in that picture the joints seem pretty wide to be just sealant.

Butt glazing has no mullions, just a sealant, and the glass is usually held by either horizontal mullions (concealed inside or expressed) at the top and bottom, or by spider connections through the glass. Since we are seeing occasional horizontal joints, I would say this is not the system used here.

Pictures taken from yesterday.

It doesn't look like they've added any more glass panels lately.

Shame that there is no more glass, but the parking podium is on its way up and if there is anything that everyone on this forum can agree on, its our undying love of parking podiums.

I can say most assuredly that this tower has mullions that rise above the glass. Also, the glass is way too reflective.

Really great shot Michi!

This tower looks so diminutive from that location and wouldn't be noticeable to anyone who wasn't looking; we'll see how it appears once it is t/o...

Looks good, Chicago could use some more glass buildings like this. Also I like the facade a lot

Those floorplates are insanely thin for a parking garage...

Yeah, it's cool. I mean I've seen 4.5" pretty standard, but without a fascia beam we are used to seeing (doubling as a guard rail) it just makes the expression all the more interesting....especially on that ramp.

Wow. Did they remove all the detailing from the rendering? what happened to the alternated spandrel? This is why I don't trust Related. We're gonna get another Dollar Store saran-wrap box.
