If I was rich, and I had my choice of high-end condos in Manhattan, I think this is the one I'd choose to live in, facing Central Park of course.

Frick no, facing upper Manhattan, not that I would complain much if I had a view of Central Park lol. Hell, Id be happy to live in a 30X20 room with a toilet in the corner under the ground if I could live in NYC.

You'd be surprised how cheap you can score some places in the city. My sister and her bf pay just over 1000 bucks a month for a one bedroom apartment in a new building on the Upper East Side.

I wouldn't turn down a place in this building (or a building like One Beacon Court), but you wouldn't see me actually spend money to live in Midtown.

These would make great corporate apartments or pieds-a-terre for someone who doesn't live in NYC permanently but who does a lot of business here. As a primary residence? Not the best neighborhood.

Well yeah if you can find a rent-controlled / rent-stabilized place or get some kind of crazy landlord incentives. I wouldn't expect to find something like that, though.

I know what you're saying in that it's not the best neighborhood in a "neighborhood" sense... but... it's a hell of a convenient location to get just about anywhere in the city with the Columbus Circle station right there AND it is steps from Central Park. That's a pretty good location overall for Manhattan, if you ask me. With the types of views you'd have from a condo in this tower, the luxurious building, and having the Park a block away... I think I'd be able to handle living there.

I am more impressed with the limited (aka, no) space they have to work with for the site work.

Just noticed the crane sections in that last photo. Looks like they're getting ready to jump the crane soon.

Nope, none of those crazy incentives were involved. Keep looking and you'll find what you need

It's nice when something reaching its first setback is actually a milestone.

Maybe this has been mentioned before (I don't know) but much like Trump in Chicago, the setbacks seem to be complementary to the buildings on either side.

Without them, it would be another Trump World Tower (impressive in its own way).

So this supertall looks like it's being built without steel beams, using just reinforced concrete? I thought anything that tall would need a steel skeleton?
