It's worth noting that it's the second Henday section that got the flythrough treatment, but for whatever reason it wasn't a requirement for the SE portion in Calgary. These days with the proliferation of 3D models used for designing large scale projects like this, it's much easier to make these flythroughs than just a few years ago. They aren't going to pump these out as a favor for the government though. It's still pretty time consuming to put together.

I wonder if the government would do this for the SW portion, as a tool to help sell it to the Tsuu T'ina. I know that the terms of the agreement was the sticking point with the deal, but it might help convince some people.

Perhaps the forum can help me out. Does anyone have insight into when the Stoney Trail / Nose Hill Drive detour route will be implemented?

Here is a diagram of the detour route:

Basically the detour is meant to take out the intersection and have the intersection become only a right lane in or out. My original understand was the detour would be implemented this past spring. However there appears to be a lot of feet dragging getting the detour route operating.

The Stoney/NHD intersection is becoming a major bottle neck, especially on Thursday and Friday afternoon rushhours (when every camper van and 5th wheel east of Cochrane and west of Manitoba is going to the mountains. Southbound Stoney backs up to Scenic Acres intersection and Northbound Stoney backs up to hwy 1.

Good luck. Drove through yesterday and I'd be surprised if we see it before end of September. Please prove me wrong.

It appears that the 22x will be rerouted under the 88th Street interchange any day now.

The detour road for the Nosehill interchange looks like its getting near completion. Still haven't paved the widened part of 87th Street though. Quite a bit of earth moving going on, including what I assume is a wildlife passage culvert under the SB to WB off ramp.

Is there bridge widening planned for the Bow bridges on 22X? There's another 8 months chewed up with that.

Nope, I believe both bridges are adequate for the current phase of the ring road (the northern bridge is only a few years old and was pretty much built to the spec needed)

The bridge over the Bow will lose it's pedestrian accommodation I believe.

I can see a bottleneck there. Lanes ending before the bridge (from Cranston/McKenzie) only to reappear on the other side (Chapparel).

You are partially right. The plan is the west bound bridge loses its pedestrian walkway to give three traffic lanes, and only the pedestrian walkway on the eastbound bridge is left (see page 68 of the schedule 18 PDF)

Correct (sort of), actually it didnt even go as far south as the current Tuscany interchange is now as the entrance to Tuscany was roughly where the pedestrian bridge is now and the road ended at that point. When I moved to Tuscany in May 1997 that was the only section that was open. I don't recall when the extension down to the TCH opened but I seem to recall it not being for awhile after I moved in. So I would hazard a guess and say that portion did not open until late 1997 at the very earliest. At that point it was single lane southbound and 2 lanes northbound until you got to the bottom of the hill.

The 22x is realigned this morning. Is this the first realignment onto the permanent roadway for the SE ring road?

I believe so, at least for the mainline alignment and not counting any ramps.

I certainly hope they are not finished as it is still mostly dirt. Doesn't even look like grass seed has been sprayed yet.
