Not sure how much has changed since I moved, but my favourite places for a pint with friends were the clocktower, the dominion (dirty dom) and the chateau lafayette (the laff). For some reason I ended up at the lieutenants pump, the fox & feather (for the patio) and the royal oak at bank/gloucester because it was always empty when you wanted to seat a large group. Also enjoyed pub italia for trappist beer and the like.

I find it interesting how there are such a mix of thoughts/opinions on areas in the market and downtown. I guess I'll chime in that I'm not a very big fan of the market overall. So far, everywhere I've been there has been overpriced for what you get. Overpriced for food that is average, almost ho-hum actually. Also overpriced for pints too. I've paid similar prices to drink beer and watch women "dance" in other places...lol The service I've gotten has been slow, and the staff have seemed uninterested.

Basically, we don't even go downtown to eat or drink anymore. Unless it's somewhere worthwhile like Baton Rouge (though we've had some killer ribs at the Montanas at south keys on more than one occasion).

As far as pints go, I like Pub Italia a lot. Huge selection, and I'm upto page 3 or 4 ouf 12 of the beer bible now...lol
