Festivals & Events in Metro Vancouver

There were a crazy amount of people at New Westminster's Food Truck Festival this summer.

Here is someone's raw footage of the event. It is one of those 360 degree videos (i.e., you can drag the screen left/right/up/down to pan around just like Google Maps street view as the video runs):

Not a bad idea for a thread. I'll contribute something...

Vancouver Mural Festival is this Saturday in Mt. Pleasant. Pretty much the same vibe and atmosphere as Car Free Day, as they close off a large stretch of Main Street, except this happens on a Saturday, which for me makes it more enjoyable. Would like to see some more intricate works, but whatever, it's a great event.

Unfortunately, the weather is supposed to turn bad again this weekend. Hopefully, it ends up being better than forcasted.

Did anyone go to the Mural festival? that park on 7th was all fenced off for a big concert when I went past on friday eve, hopefully the rain didn't ruin it.

The rain held off just enough. Not interested much in the murals, except: 1) there were a few good ones, lots of mediocrity, and a few shockingly bad ones; 2) a strange experience to see a complete area covered in paint. The concert was great but with a dissapointingly small crowd. Badbadnotgood was a great warmup, and LP gave an inspired show - a rediculous voice and whistle weilded like weapons.

I heard the live performances were the highlight of the event. Murals haven't really been heavily promoted in Vancouver in the past so all in all it seemed like something different and unique for the city

I walked by, looked like fun, lots of beer gardens and of course the music. You could have a good time without looking at a single mural.

LOL that park was such a ripoff last year. Maybe next next year they can open it with PlayLand in Winter. Time for a real winter festival, darn it.

It wasn't cheap, but what is? Cheaper than going to see a movie, which is just watching a big TV screen.

I liked the skating last year. But I think the location, right on False Creek, was a bonus. Hastings Park doesn't quite have the same views (or accessibility).

Multiple fireworks barges and synchronized lighting effects
What is planned for the new celebration is Disneyesque: expect multiple fireworks barges to create a dazzling effect of a ballet of fireworks.

But it is not just fireworks, as exterior lighting displays of buildings in the downtown skyline, such as Science World and other areas of Concord Pacific Place, will be fully synchronized with the fireworks.

Can you even see that much from Lonsdale? It'd be like trying to look at the new fireworks from Shaughnessy...

Sorry North Van.
And the view of the fireworks from the viaducts would be truly spectacular!

As would be the tickets and crashes for taking your eyes off the road. Build the pedestrian/bike ramp, then you can enjoy the show while sitting down!

I take it you'll be chaining yourself to the viaducts while they are being taken down. Ranting about $1.7 Billion!!1!!1!1

Port Moody and Coquitlam will have their Christmas Light festivals opening November 30

Always a good free light display to check out and very easy with the Skytrain.
